My LO was not her usual self yesterday...she was lethargic, cried more than usual, had crusty eyes, had no interest in feeding, no cooing or playfulness and she was running a fever. I took her temperature rectally in the morning and it was 101.1 so I gave her 0.8 ml of Tylenol and waited 4 hours. Her temperature was 102.5 the second time so I took her in for a same day appointment.

The nurse took LO's temp (101.5) and put us in an exam room. My LO perked up once she was in that room...she started smiling and shrieking at her reflection in the huge mirrors and was playing with tissue paper covering the exam table! (Maybe I should buy some big mirrors and a roll of paper for her to play with at home! )

The doctor(not our regular Dr...ours had the day off) gave her a quick exam and told me that LO was under the weather and I should continue giving her Tylenol and should use lukewarm washcloths to cool her. She also said next time I should wait 3 days and sick babies aren't usually this happy. I tried to explain her other symptoms but she cut me off and said it's ok Mommy, you are first time parent and this is normal. I felt like an idiot but I don't regret taking her in!

Do you ever feel bad about taking your LO to the doctor?
