Its so rare these days for me to pay retail - I feel like everything is always on sale or I have a coupon.
How about you?

Depends on the store. I never pay full price for anything at Gap or Old Navy because they are always having sales and their clearance section is pretty big. Macy's is also constantly having sales so I never pay full price their either.
I try to buy groceries on sale, but if what I need is full price where I am, I pay it.

Yes, but before I do I factor in cost per wear. If the item is still worth it then it's going home with me.

@Keybee: that's true - groceries I guess I buy if I need regardless of sale or not

Hardly ever. I feel like if I'm patient enough, it will always go on sale.

Sometimes for my clothes, almost never for LO's, otherwise, it's rare with coupons, etc.

Super rarely when it comes to clothes and such.
I've worked in footwear and now swimwear and the mark up's are soo high that it's 100% not worth it!

Yes- when it's something that never goes on sale or I can't find somewhere else discounted (like eBay or the Rack)
One of the reasons I love the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in July. If there are items I love I get them- usually the selection is really good.

For clothes? Not often. Sometimes for pants, because finding long pants in my size is a huge challenge. I shop for E at Once Upon a Child, and then don't feel bad about buying something full priced.
Oh and shoes. I feel like shoes are rarely on sale when I need them.
But, really, it seems like everything is always on sale on the internet. I'm sure it's just a big gimmick to make us feel better about our purchases in general.

Rarely, I always try to find a deal with the exception of groceries. I'm terrible with coupons, I shop with a couple sale apps and rebate apps though.

Rarely, unless it's makeup or a few items I have to try on in store like bras and shoes. Otherwise, I always have a promo code or I shop on a deal site or Nordstrom rack or something.

I have, sometimes I just can not wait for a sale, but I usually at least find what I need in my second choice color at a discount.
For food, I regularly buy things at the regular price, I don't always have a coupon or wait for a sale. If I need pasta, I buy one or two boxes instead of stocking up during a sale.

I used to be all about the sales. Now in an effort to streamline and minimize my wardrobe I'm trying not to worry about sales, I just have to absolutely love it to buy it. If it's on sale that's a bonus but is not allowed to factor in to my decision.
This is helping me be happy with the things I own rather than trying to fill a gap with more 'bargains' that aren't quite right.

Pretty much never in my life have I paid retail for anything except items that don't go on sale like my once in a blue moon handbag.

Rarely. Sometimes for one-off buys like special occasion dresses, makeup, purses, sunglasses. Hardly ever for clothes, but i guess I do for swimwear / maternity pants sometimes. But they're not outrageously overpriced anyway.

All the time.
I guess it depends though, I don't purchase many things, the things I do I need and they don't go on sale.

Groceries yes. clothing no. I usually use ebates so I think of that as a discount LOL

I never pay retail if I know for a fact that it's a site or store that runs coupons or codes. I will always wait it out! The only things I pay full retail for are items that I know NEVER go on sale EVER. Like an LV bag that I recently purchased- the price is the price, unfortunately! But things like that are rare.

I shop sales or I go thrifting. I find that I have more fun with it when I feel like I've found a good deal!

@PrincessBaby: Even LV I usually only buy "on sale", which is on travel cause it's cheaper pretty much every where in Europe (except the UK).
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@PurplePumps: oh that would be awesome to get it for cheaper somewhere!!! I am stuck in the US, we never make it out, so I pay good ol full retail if an LV purchase occurs (rare!). I just bought an Eva clutch as a very rare treat for myself a couple of months ago when I got my quarterly bonus, but usually I admire from afar:)

For clothes, almost never.
For other things, like groceries, yes. With larger purchases, I at least try to comparison shop and get it from the cheapest place if it's not on sale.

Once in college I bought a sweater full price. That's about it!
Shoes I suppose I do. As in I buy them at discount places where their discount price Is there regular price.

Almost never in the US. Typically only for gifts and a couple of clothes for DH. Home in NZ about 50/50 and almost always in Japan
