Whether you're TTC, pregnant, or have a LO, do you ever think "just you wait!" when you're talking to people not yet at the stage of life you're in?
I totally do, but I never say it! Mostly when people imply that any of those things should be easy... DH and I just have a little laugh to ourselves!

I'm also pretty nostalgic for how much easier things were with just one kid... I rarely say anything though. And I never ever say anything to other parents with more kids than me either! Wouldn't want to force them to "just you wait" me in their heads (or out loud!).

@mrbee I imagine those with more than one LO have LOTS of those moments!! I'm terrified of having #2!!!

I think it all the time. I never say anything though because I know that when I was at that stage it would've annoyed me to no end.

Yes, but I try and keep my mouth shut. My sisters are 20 and are in a very different life stage than I am (in college, casual dating, part-time jobs, etc) and some of their comments on my pregnancy have been hilarious and infuriating! They just have NO idea what it is like to be pregnant, or to even want to be pregnant lol

I have. I don't usually think it about the average person, only when someone who's never been in my situation starts spouting off advice or how-to's. Then I really roll my eyes and think "we'll see when you're there!". Never would I say anything though but I definitely think it.

Yes! All the time to myself...but I never say anything. I think about how I must have sounded to some people and I'm so embarrassed! You just have no idea until you're going through it!
@mrbee: I'm so afraid of having #2 for this reason too! I enjoyed pumping rather than nursing b/c it was easier for me, but it certainly won't be with a LO running around!

@running elley...the other thing is that I don't want to steal people's excitement since nobody stole mine and it made the TTC/pregnancy part so exciting and happy..they'll get there so why bother saying it right? But I still can't believe I even THINK it these days since I'm still so NEW and clueless about parenting!

No, because I think DH and I are at like stage 1 hahaha (not even TTC yet) so everyone probably wants to say "Just you wait" to us! hahaha

omg allllll the time... one of my friends just posted on her blog about embracing her changing pregnant body and the excitement for getting her body back... and I'm like just you wait hahaha... so mean I know.

@ .twist. Yeah the one story that really pops into my head is when someone told me that I shouldn't hope for LO to find her thumb to self soothe and I shouldn't give her a paci... I was like, ok, when you have a baby, you are free to let them cry without it or lucky if you don't need it but I'm not doing that!

@googly-eyes: oh yea! lovely! haha. I know someone who's never been pregnant or a parent and they like to tell me about how my body is changing during my pregnancy and what gear I'll need. Ok, I'm so glad you know what my body is doing right now better than I do!

@ .twist. Oh yeah I've had gear opinions from several w/ no kids...like yes I have an unlimited budget let me go get that.. Even for those who have been pregnant, every pregnancy is so different!!

but because of that, it doesn't annoy me if someone says it to me... I get it!

I hate when people say that to me. I want to enjoy my pregnancy and I know life won't be perfect afterwards, but I try to live on the positive side of things!

@googly-eyes: This was one of my big ones! And DH's too! We both said no thumb sucking. Yeah right! Now we root for him to find his thumb and self soothe!

I had a friend rant to me while I was pregnant about how their pregnant coworker took a nap during her break at work and how unprofessional that was. I was like sorry, I can't be on your side on this one. When you're pregnant you're sooooooo tired! And she just kept complaining.
I also have friends who were pregnant and kept saying things like "My LO isn't going to watch any tv." "And this was coming out of the dad's mouth.... not the mom who was going to have to stay home with the baby and entertain him all day long.

All the time! I have a couple of friends with LOs just a bit younger than mine that I say it to often (in my head!). The worst is people that don't have kids. Sorry, your gear recs and parenting tips don't really count. Holding a baby every once in a while does not equal being a parent.

@char54 As it should be!! I think expectant parents deserve a little blissful ignorance as I think @running elley said! It's part of the process. And all expectant parents I think have goals and a little bit of what they hope to do or not do..

@artbee that's actually kind of sad that someone would be complaining about that...it's a break!! I stopped working right before finding out I was pregnant (grad school and for now I SAH) and thank goodness because the 1st trimester was so hard.

@Mrs. Pen: hahah.....ahh...used to be me.
I think it all the time but never say anything. One friend says she not happy with me because I am always a good 15-20 minutes late to everything ever since having a baby. Apparently packing a kid, his stuff, and driving him through terrible snow just seem super easy to her. Um, "yooouuuu just wait, honey!"
