A friend (lives in another state, we have never exchanged gifts before...maybe for our weddings?) sent my LO some clothes for her 2nd birthday. I will send her a thank you card but I feel like I need to send her LO something for his 2nd birthday in a few months.

If I wasn't planning to send something already, I probably wouldn't. But I might remember her child on another holiday or occasion. That's only because when I gift, I don't expect a gift in return.. Not sure about your friend, though.

I do. My ex-coworker is pregnant and even though I don't work there anymore she came to my shower so I will be sending her something even though I am not invited to her shower.
