I make a huge effort to finish a book if I start it... I will sometimes buy a book though and not start it. Loophole?
Do you finish every book you start?

Nope. Most of the time I stop reading though and then eventually come back to it after reading something else in between. For example, while I was reading the Game of Thrones series I had to take breaks here and there to read a light, fluff book.

I mostly finish all my books. I may not finish them all in one sitting, but I return to them eventually. A book has to be really bad or slow moving for me to not finish it, there are only a few books that I pretty much hated and couldn't bring myself to finish, Eat, Pray, Love & Life of Pi.

Usually, but not always. I could not for the life of me finish A Fire Upon the Deep and I tried sooooooo hard. But there are very few books I don't finish. And like you, @mrbee, I buy books and then just don't start them, haha.

I used to finish every book I read whether I liked it or not, but not anymore. If I really can't get into a book and I've tried then I give up and pick something else up.

I used to, but now my time is limited & I don't want to waste it reading something that sucks. I read 29 books last month and gave up on 3 out of that 29.

Nope. I used to force myself to finish every book I started but I don't have as much time to read as I used to. If I'm reading for pleasure, I want to enjoy it! I tried reading Bossypants a few months ago and just couldn't get into it. I thought it was awful! I didn't even make it half way through.

I'm pretty sure the only 2 books I've never finished were The Notebook (hated the movie, so not sure why I bought the book) and Love in the Time of Cholera. I should go back and try to finish that one...

I have to. Even if it takes me forever to get back to it, I had to leave a book unfinished.

@Sweet T: me too! I think I got through like, three chapters. If that. I didn't find her funny, just annoying.

I only finish them if I like them
@Running Elley: I've had the first game of thrones on my kindle for months now..I cannot get past the second or third chapter! I watched all the episodes, though

No. There are too many good books that I could be reading to waste my time on ones I don't enjoy.

Nope. I move on pretty quickly if I am not digging it. Life is short!

I try and give a book a good chance, but sometimes I just can't get into it so I stop reading it.

I used to make it my mission to finish a book even if it was total crap. Now I figure there are too many books, not enough time, and I'll be darned if I waste my time on ones I don't like!

No, not anymore. I just don't have the time and/or energy. I've been trying to read the GoT series for like a year now (and I'm not even halfway through the second book, sigh).

@mrsjazz: omg i hated Life of Pi! it was torturous to get through.
I don't always finish books I start, but I make a huge effort. Sometimes I'll set it aside, and come back to it years later, determined to give it that 2nd chance!

@FutureMrsMcK: I've been on the 2nd GoT book for over a year now. It's so slow moving compared to the first. I heard the 3rd one is really good though.
