I get along with my BIL really well. In fact, he's more like a friend to mess around with than a relative. He and hubs are twins and have always been more like friends than brothers and we share the same group of friends. Sometimes I forget that he's my BIL. Similarly, the hubs gets along with my brother.

Cute! I get along with bils and sils but we're far from being friends. I'd love to joke around with them and treat them like I treat my family, but I'm afraid they can't handle my humor and might find me inappropriate. Haha!

I have nothing in common with my SIL...sadly, I just don't respect her so I could never really be close to her, which is so sad b/c I have always wanted a sister

They are 10, 12 and 16 years old so even though I don't dislike them, they're kids and we don't really talk. I have one SIL who is 23 but we still don't have much in common. Giant age gaps!

My husband has step-siblings gained after his parents divorced in high school, otherwise he is an only child so I don't have any siblings in law. His step-sister is his same age but we are not really close - we get along fine, but wouldn't hang out if they lived closer.
My husband is 16 years older than me, and his mom remarried a man 20+ years older than her, so on that side, all the step-siblings are my parents age, so I'd never be buddies with them either (and they all live far away from us).

My DH is the eldest of three children.
He has a younger brother (who has a girlfriend I consider my SIL since they have been together for like 7 years)
and a younger sister who is my exact same age who also has a boyfriend I consider my BIL.
We are all within 6 years of each other and have a BLAST hanging out. When we were still young and crazy we used to go out and party at the beach house together and spend many lazy afternoons hungover on the beach.
Now, we don't do much (any) partying, but we still love to hang out, the six of us together.
Honestly, we don't do a whole bunch one on one, but we love to hang out as a group.

I have one brother-in-law...and I get along great with him because he's 7! I met him when he was 2 and he was trying to steal me away from DH. Whenever we visit him in Florida he wants to show me all of his toys and we watch his favorite TV shows (he loves Olivia and got me hooked).
It's a pretty awesome relationship

DH only has one sibling, a sister that is 5 years older than he is. We get along, but we're not especially close. I think the fact that they're not close makes it hard for me to really bond with her. It does make me sad, because I'm an only child and have always wanted a sister. However, we're having children at the same time and I have seen some bonding come from that.

I do. My DH has one brother, and he's a lot of fun to hang around with. I also have a brother and sister who are both married. My SIL was my good friend before she met my brother. My sister is a newlywed and he's from Australia, they live in NY, so I haven't gotten to see him very much. But from what I know I like him!

They all live pretty far away but, I talk to one of his sisters more often than any others. She's very down to earth and normal. I'm excited, she's the one SIL who is coming to my shower! The husbands, I'm fine with both. They're nice people who I don't mind spending time with when we do see them.

I have two brother in laws via my husband. BIL#1 we get along fine, we can joke around etc. BIL#2 and I were really close, he was more like a brother to me than anything. The 3 of us were together all the time. He was over for dinner all the time.
I have two SILs via my brothers and we get along fine. Sil#1 and I are closer. #2 is a bit aloof and meh but whatever.

Well, I don't believe in hate...so I won't go that far. But, my sil is young, immature, calls her parents m-fers, *****, you fill in the blanks and she calls people that. It's SAD. So, nope don't get along, she wasn't a b-maid, and I look forward to moving and seeing her waaay less often.
My brother is one of my best friends (he walked me down aisle with dad), and thankfully him and DH get along great!

@Rubies: My DH and BIL are twins, too.
We used to get along a lot greater with my BIL, but things changed ever since our now FSIL came into the picture. She's never seemed interested in becoming a great family member.

Yes! I love m sister in law! She is great and I couldn't ask for anything better! She has 3 children already (so our Niece and Nephews) and I plan to definitely look to her for guidance when the time comes!

Yep, my husband's brothers and their wives are all awesome. My stepbrother's soon to be ex-wife is my BFF. I'm not particularly close to my other siblings' spouses, though (mostly because I never see them).

I get along well with SIL...but every once in a while an issue will spring up where she will carry on like an absolute cow. Usually over important things like our wedding, birthdays, issues when LO was born.

I get along with BIL, he has similar interests so all 3 of us can usually just hang out together. SIL, on the other hand isn't into the same things and (imo) is pretty judgmental and wasn't exactly nice, even from the beginning.

I have two BIL's and one SIL (BIL#1's wife) and while I occasionally get along with BIL#2, BIL#1 is very standoff-ish and 'you're not a part of this family' so unfortunatly SIL is also standoff-ish. We don't have anything in common. It's a bit sad really.
SO doesn't really get along with my brothers but we live on opposite sides of the country so it's not really a surprise.

I get along with my 2 BILs & my SIL, but we aren't really friends. One of my BILs lives in the same town and we still only see him when everyone goes back to NC for holidays. I just don't think the hubs was close with his siblings when they were growing up. His two brothers are 10 & 4 years older, so the age difference probably has something to do with it. His sister is 13 months younger and is a bit of a drama queen. Due to a clerical error at their elementary school, she ended up in the same grade with the hubs (1st grade), and they never got along. She's nice to me but we're definitely not close.

DH is the third of his father's six kids. DH and his older twin brothers from Wife #1, and his three half sisters from Wife #2.
I am really good friends with my oldest SIL to the point where DH gets annoyed that she tells me a lot of things she doesn't share with him. I also get on really well with my two younger SIL's (13 and 10), but they're obviously a lot younger than me and DH. As an aside, I also get on really well with my MIL.
My late BIL I also got on with famously and we would go out to lunch, etc. until he died two years ago. However, his twin is an entirely different story. My BIL is one of the few people on the planet I can't stand (neither can DH really, which is sad).
DH does NOT get along with my only sister as she is a very difficult personality. But then again, she's made it pretty clear she doesn't like him either.

Hubs sister (my SIL) is okay and we get along just fine, but we're definitely not friends. We really have nothing in common besides family.
My brother (Hubs' BIL) on the other hand is a totally different story. My brother and Hubs are sooooo similar and the three of us hang out all the time. I think Hubs like my brother more than his own family, haha. They just have so much in common and enjoy each others' company! It's really nice!

Don't have any sibling-in-laws, but DH and my brother get along great. They're not best friends, but they have a 'sibling' relationship; i.e. my brother goes to DH for advice, etc.

I love my BIL and we get along great. He's in his early 20s and has had a bit of a rough go of things for the last few years, but I love him! We are really close.

I love my BIL and we get along great, but I do not believe we would have ever been friends if it weren't for my relationship wtih DH. We have totally different communication styles so it's hard to even have a conversation. And I think it took him a while to get used to me being around since DH was single for such a long time.

As of now, I have four SILs. DH's sisters are a senior and sophomore in high school. Obviously, we're not in the same stage of life, but I love them to pieces. We're still building a relationship, but I definitely think of them as little sisters. I get along with my brothers' wives also, but one is a good friend and the other feels almost more like a close acquaintance.

I'm cordial with my brother's wife but I don't particularly care for her. She's not very warm and friendly in person. I wish she were though!

I get along with my DH's brother and sister law great, we are the same age and actaully I was friend with his brother before I knew DH, from high school and college parties. I'm cordial with both my sister's husbands, neither are that personable even though I've known them both for 10+ years. One is shy, the other can be kind of a jerk at times.
