@2littlepumpkins: It bugs you if moms do homemade valentines rather than store bought? That's interesting. Why do you think it bugs you?
I made homemade cards, by the way. They cost me 8 cents each to print. 14 kids in the class, plus I printed a couple of extras....I paid about $1.04 total for our homemade valentines. It never occurred to me someone would be annoyed by them because they weren't bought from a store.

We have soooooo much candy in our house right now. It doesn't annoy me per se but I don't want us to eat it all and I feel wasteful throwing it away! It seems unnecessary. A few candies, fine. But this will last us until next year!

@travellingbee: Other students gave those full bags of candy? Wow that's crazy. Our preschool class is really laid back compared to that.

@Anagram: haha not the big ones. I'm a teacher and some students gave me those. We've already eaten a ton.

@travellingbee: oh yeah, elementary teachers get the good stuff. Middle school teachers get little to nothing! Sad face.

@Anagram: I'd gladly send you mine I used to teach middle school so I know.

@travellingbee: my husband is a chocoholic, so the last thing we need is more chocolates, haha. Now days, I get small but meaningful little gifts--last year a former student visited Italy and brought me a postcard from Vinci--because I taught a unit about Leonardo Da Vinci that she enjoyed. I thought that was amazing!

@Anagram: like I said it's the feeling like I have to keep up I don't like... just that they set the bar so high! Some of them are very cute and creative, but I will likely never get that done!

DD1 had a Vday party and we were asked to bring in valentines for the class. My mom and R found what was left at the store (a few cards and some stickers/tats) and she wrote her name on them and stuffed them. She absolutely loved it (I was so surprised that she kept going in her own!) and I know we'll do something more next year. But I also told my mom that whatever she found was fine by me, store bought or whatever! She got a range of a couple with stickers/tats to a homemade one that said something cute with a few crayons. No one went crazy and it sounds like the kids had fun! I love holidays like those that are about celebrating with others and doing a couple fun things. And love is great in all forms!

I think VD is a dumb Hallmark holiday. I don't celebrate it with my husband.
But my almost 3yo was super excited to open all of his Valentines when he got home. He got way more candy (from the kids in his class) than I would prefer, and he got pissed when I told him he could only have one item per day. But that's ok. It's just part of being a parent. I'm glad he had fun celebrating at school.

Not annoyed at all! O don't like valentine's days for couples (stupid hallmark holiday) but seeing my four year old so flipping excited to hand put his paw patrol valentine's made me now like valentine's day! Both boys got tons of cards and candy but I'm kinda laxed on that stuff and was happy to see them digging through their candy so excited about it and sharing with each other. We might of have candy for breakfast the other day
What I don't like: is the major consumption of buying you kids toys, candy. A small box of candy, cool. A basket of toys, candy, coloring books is to much.etc for every little holiday.

Not annoyed but I can't believe the amount of candy M got. She hasn't really even looked at it since Tues and I'll be getting rid of most of it anyway.
