I do! Only when I'm navigating DH. He knows now to look at which way I'm pointing rather than listen to me! lol

I do this too sometimes, especially when I'm really tired. I may or may not have been caught holding up both hands to see which one makes the "L" before telling my husband to turn left or right.

All. The. Time. DH knows to just go the way I point regardless of which direction I say

All the time! DH makes fun of me, and I just tell him never to trust me when I'm giving directions. Always go by the direction in which my finger points and not what comes out of my mouth.

Yes, I still do the "l" with my hands sometimes and it drives DH up the wall. He does. not. understand how a responsible adult could possibly be confused by this. (I, on the other hand, don't know how a responsible adult could fail to understand how to use the microwave, but that's another story...)

Yes! For some reason it is not instinctive for me. I always have to consciously think when saying right or left. And like the rest of you, DH makes fun of me and doesn't understand how it's not just something I know without thinking.

I do! I have a birthmark on my left hand that I always have to look at. I've been glancing down for so long now, it is automatic.

No, cuz I have a scar on my left wrist which I've had since I was 3. So I always remember that the scar is on my left.

I don't have this problem but it's amazing how many people do. Almost every piano student I've taught, be they 4 or 50 years old have had problems. So you are definitely not alone.

@illumina: I usually know which way I'm facing. It's so much easier in the Midwest because the roads are true grids. When I lived in San Diego... it would have been impossible!!
