We have a lot of festivals here in the summer. They're great and all but now that we have a kid, I find myself avoiding them so we don't end up with a $100 day at a festival for rides, games and food.

Excited! Some are more kid friendly than others. We don't usually go to get "dinner" so it doesn't get too expensive.

Avoid. Too many people. We avoid even more so now that LO is neutropenic, but we avoid a lot because of that. Too risky!

I'm excited for the festivals this summer. Last summer our LOs were too little be I think it'll be fun this year. Our park district puts on cultural festivals all summer long on the riverfront. They aren't too expensive or crowded, as we live in a relatively small town. Also excited for the riverfront farmer's markets starting soon!

Avoid for now until she's a little bit older. We're going through some crazy toddler "catch me if you can" games so it'll just be easier to chase her around some where else less crowded.

I love them! Tonight I'm taking my boys to a food truck festival!

Mostly avoid. I'm not really a fan. I don't care for the ride situation and the games and food get expensive quick.
For expensive games, we have a Dave and Busters very close to our house.

I like them in general but where we live, they get sooooo crowded that I started to avoid. It's not worth the headache of parking, lines, etc.

Love. My community has a ton of events. Any chance to racy out of a truck is my jam.

Love them - love going to craft fairs for homemade jams and things and gifts for Christmas, birthdays, etc.
Love food truck festivals because there is always music and good food and we see friends, love summer music festivals because...well, what's not to love with a picnic and live music?!

Love them. I don't love crowds though, or public bathrooms.
Our city has free music events and outdoor dancing and food events almost every night of the week. Hardest winters= greatest summers!

I love that it's a free activity and the kids love it but the crowds can definitely get overwhelming.

I get super excited for them, but I try and go in the morning on a weekday to avoid the crazy crowds. If it's busy enough that we just spend the entire day standing around waiting in lines in the sun, that is NOT my kind of day. No thank you.

I like them because we live walking distance to our city's downtown where they have food truck festivals (went to one a few weeks ago), First Fridays with bands/art vendors, 4th of July/New Year's events, and other things like that. I'm sure there are lots of kid-friendly ones we'll discover once LO gets a little older. Being walking distance is definitely the reason I like it because we don't have to deal with parking, and if we get there and it's too crowded, we still got a long walk out of the deal (and can stop for a snack on the way home)!

@mediagirl: The only one I'm OMGyesplease about is the 4th of July, obvs but that's mainly because it's the one week that something actually happens around here and because I can't really miss it at this point since I've practically been every year (this year, I'll be 35 weeks pregnant so...we'll see). It's just one of those things that I HAVE to do or it doesn't even feel like summer. The tourists, however, drive me nuts because how do they all FIT in this small town?!
I don't have super strong feelings either way about other festivals, but I do think they're fun!

Depends! Some I love bc of great food mostly haha! But with DD in toll now I gotta consider distance, crowdedness, time, etc...
