Nope. Never done pro pics of any kind. Not that I haven't want to.
ETa: we do buy the ones from daycare, if they're not crying. Lol

We just got our first real pics. I don't know why I didn't ever do it earlier. I just found someone local on Facebook. Really pleased with them!!

There was a professional photographer at the hospital - she takes photos of all the babies and we bought a few from her. Our daycare had a professional photographer come a few weeks ago and we are going to buy some photos from that to send for the holidays.
Though it's tempting we haven't hired a professional photographer directly to take photos of LO.

Hire! I love those pictures because he's in his own element. I know I'll never get a good/smiling pic at a studio. Maybe when he's older?

Hire. We're mildly obsessed with photos of LO and all our family is across the country so obviously they need to see more photos...

We just hired someone, but in the past, we've traded off with a friend. They take a few photos of us and then we take a few photos of them.

No. DH has a lot of camera gear, and he takes amazing photos of the kids. Most are candid and more documentary style. I would like to get professional pictures of our family since DH is always behind the camera, but it's so expensive. So far we have been doing well by using a tripod.

We try to do pro photos once a year, but they're only 18 months so I don't know how long we will keep it up!

We do pro photos once a year for our holiday card.

Yes, about yearly - hire a professional photographer. We did newborn shots but not 1st year pro shots, but this year we've done 2 pro sessions with LO (one yesterday was also a family shot).

We hire a photographer about 2 times a year. We typically do mini sessions.

The last professional pictures we hired a photographer, that was two years ago! I'd love some updated ones.

We've gone to Picture People or JCP in the past, but one of my friends took some family photos of us this weekend and I loved a lot of them, so I'll probably just ask her again in the future.

@regberadaisy: Same - we've never done pro pics, though I'm jealous of others! We've bought pics from daycare though.

I take LO to a photo studio at least once a year.
DH is a photographer but the only time I can get him in front of the camera is at a studio with our son.
My parents never did studio portraits for or with us, and never Santa/Easter Bunny pictures. I was always jealous seeing my friends framed photos at their house. I wanted to make sure I had a few of J taken while he's small.

Hire a photog 1x a year, usually for holiday cards. This year we had a fam shoot along with DS2's nb shoot!

We hire a photographer once a year and we do Picture People in between. I'm not the best photographer so I really want to capture these adorable years, plus with the photographer, we get family photos with all of us in them!

We DIY'd her newborn pics, and we're going to a Target studio for her 1 year photos.

We do pro pics once a year for family and get individual shots of LO. I did do newborn pics also (black friday deal).
For both I hired a local photographer.

We have done mostly DIY for birth announcements ans holiday pics. The only thing I wish I had was some image editing software for the images to make them a little better but otherwise we have been happy with what we have done!

We do family photos every year, so I guess we are hiring someone to do formal portraits along with that The girl we are using this year is only charging $30! And we got Char's preschool photo this year, too.

On top of the bajillion pcs that DH and I take, we do a pro shoot once a year! It is worth the investment to us.

We bought the professional photos that they took in the hospital when DD was one day old, and then when she was six months old we had a photographer come to our home and do a shoot in our living room, nursery, and bedroom. I love how they turned out and I'm so glad we did them. She's at such a fun age, able to sit up and smile but not crawling away from us yet, so I'm very happy with the timing.

Literally never. I prefer a photojournalistic/candid/documentary style.

Yes but I have lots of photographer friends so we often trade services.

We usually do tripod or friend sessions but we paid a pro for our holiday pics this year!

Yes. I will continue to budget money for this and make it a priority as she grows. We had a newborn session, 6 months (by accident, I won a session) and I've scheduled a session with our fantastic photographer who shot our wedding when we travel home next week. We love natural and candid photography. Photography is a personal hobby and I'm pretty good but it's nice to actually be IN the pictures from time to time.

I do nerdy ones for my husband for father's day. We have done things like Dr. Who costumes and Star Wars. Then we have family pictures taken in November. My moms group does a photo fundraiser so we get a mini session for really cheap a it helps my group so I absolutley love it

We just did a JCP Groupon deal for $30. I spent more on clothes than the pictures. They weren't the best but I am happy that we got them done. LO is almost 3 and they were her first professional pics. I think we'll do a mini session next year when LO2 is vertical.

We hired a photographer recently for 2 year old pics of LO. We hired different friends who do photography as a hobby/side gig to do pics of her as a newborn, at 4 months, and 8 months. We got a professional photographer for her first birthday party which I was really happy with and am glad I chose over a formal shoot! The only other professional pictures she had between 1 year old and 2 years old was a free photo shoot promotion at Janie & Jack where you get one 8x10 and they try to sell you more but I stood firm. Oh and family pics with my side of the family when she was a few months shy of 2 but again those were by more of a hobbyist friend.

We got newborn pics done and will have a photographer friend do them at Christmas. She's not pro, though.
We do have a christmas photo that we've done for the past 5 years that we do on our own (camera on a tripod and the timer). I think we will continue doing that. We've managed to do that while getting two dogs to look at the camera. With 2 dogs and now two kids, it might be a bit harder... but we might have to not worry about the dogs and kids looking at the camera.
Oh, last time we got pro pics done was at our wedding... almost 6 years ago. Oh, nevermind, I got maternity pics done.

We have hired a photographer for holiday card pictures this weekend. But it is family pictures, not just pictures of LO.
