We do! My mom got us ornaments every year when we were kids and we are following the tradition with our daughter. Every year it has been based on her interests or what the theme of the year was. Year 1 was a "My First" ornament. Year 2 was a ladybug for her first birthday party that was ladybug themed. Year 3 was Anna (no explanation needed). Year 4 is a Curious George ornament I had to find on Ebay from last year because she's obsessed with George!

We are going to! My mom started giving my ornaments as an adult and I love getting one. DH has been getting one in his stocking his entire life.
This year we went to a paint your own pottery place and had her footprint stamped on an ornament. We painted her name on it and the year.

Yup. Leaning towards a polar bear ornament this year because she asked for a polar bear for Christmas. A apple for DD2 because she keeps saying something that sounds like "ah-pple" but we have no idea what she means!

We will! But once she is old enough, she will get to pick it out herself. That is what I always did growing up as a kid and it's funny to look back now at what I picked each year.

I honestly can't remember if I got them ornaments last year. Oops! But I love this tradition, so I'm definitely going to look for a penguin ornament and one with either balls or elephants for Blake!

Yes! I'm struggling with now that she's 4, if I want to let her pick it out or if I should just go and get them. On one hand my mom picked out cute things (like a smile ornament that she drew braces on). Where I would have picked out an NSYNC ornament or something.

Yep! Her first year was an ornament with her hand print, last year was a bird, and this year she picked an Olaf ornament.
ETA: I just saw that there's a Taylor Swift ornament that plays "Shake it Off"...should've gotten her that one! She's obsessed with that song.

Since this is an ornament thread thought I would also add that DS had a pair ON pjs with monkeys on them that he LOVED! Wore them for the winter and then I cut them so he could wear for the summer and he wore them for another season after that - haha - he was obsessed! Anyway, craft stores sell those ornament balls that open up so I cut a piece from them before tossing so we can always remember those fav pjs

Yes, we get one every year. Usually related to something we've done or somewhere we've gone that year. So this year he got Cinderella's Castle to commemorate our trip to Disney!

She's also made ornaments in daycare/preschool the past 2 years so she has those too.

I think that's really nice! I'm not much of a consumer, we don't actually purchase any ornaments, but this year we made them all, so we probably will continue that!
ETA: Oh wait! I totally did let her get an ornament at the Christmas tree farm! She picked out a sports car She's my girl!

I make a photo ornament each year, but I'm doubtful that LO will want those. They make me happy, though!
@Greentea: What do you make? We make many of ours too, and I'm looking for new ideas! So far we've mostly done origami and painted wood ornaments.

@honeybear: we used colored felt and brightly colored thread (embroidery floss) and poly fil. She would tell us what to make and they turned out really well! Then she hung them on the tree. (We got a 3.5 foot tree in a planter from a farm, just her size.) She had us make stars, hearts, lightning bolts, clouds, a dog paw, and broccoli! I just cut two felt pieces and flossed the outter edge to make a little pillow of sorts, for each ornament.

Yep we live just over an hour away from Bronners and we always make a fam trip to get our keepsake ornaments!
Mil gifts LO's hallmark ornaments through out the year too and we use those on his tree in his room.

Yes! First Christmas when she was a baby, last year was a replica of the Fisher Price Ring toy, this year Olaf.
My MIL did this for my Dh, and we have a lot of fun going through them every year and remembering the extra special ones.

I plan on it! I love traditions like that but never had it growing up myself. DS became attached so quickly to his owl lovey, so I got him a beautiful felt owl ornament from an Etsy shop.
