DD has a fever of 102.6 so I gave her some (because I know I would be miserable with that fever). But after I gave it to her, I thought I read to not give it so that they can fight the infection.
What do you usually do?

If the fever is affecting her behaviour, I give Advil (she "likes" it better than Tylenol, and I find that it works faster?). But if her behaviour is normal, I try to let her go without medication.

We generally follow the Seattle Children's fever page:
http://www.seattlechildrens.org/medical-conditions/symptom-index/fever/
With that, we medicated if P has a fever over 102 AND she seems uncomfortable... alot of times she's a tad extra cuddling but otherwise acts pretty normal. If she's not fussy or crabby we let the fever do it's job and maybe try some aromatherapy to calm her & keep it from rising (lavender is a natural fever reducer recommended for small children & peppermint oil works well for older child & adults).
Hope your lo starts to feel better

@Rubies: @runsyellowlites: she's extremely lethargic, which is not like her at all. Makes me so sad to see her like this.

Yes ! We prefer Motrin, though. More effective for us. Poor W hope she feels better soon

When Lo was sick last weekend I gave Motrin over 102 or when he seemed unhappy/very lethargic.

@BabyBoecksMom: Sorry she's not feeling well
It's so hard to see them sick. M has a 102 degree fever today as well. I gave Tylenol once she reached 102 because she seemed so miserable.
@runsyellowlites: I've already looked up your previous posts on fevers today because I remembered that you had a great reference. Thanks!

I usually give Motrin. But I only give for a fever if she's super cranky and not feeling well. Sometimes she's had fevers but has acted completely normal.

The one time my DD really had a fever (roseola), it was really obvious that she felt awful, so I gave her Tylenol without hesitation. I just want her to be comfortable...And her fever was in the 102s and her head was on FIRE.

@PrincessBaby: I'm wondering if that's what she has... Did you take her to the doctor?

@BabyBoecksMom: Yes bc it happened out of nowhere and she was SO HOT. We went for brunch and she was totally fine, and all of a sudden she started being super fussy in the high chair, and even though a million people were talking to her and smiling at her (she is a ham and can be in an awful mood but when strangers dote on her, she turns into a superstar), she was still fussing and we were really confused. She wouldn't quit crying so we had to pack it up quick and get out. As soon as I picked her up, her head touched me and she was literally on fire. I didn't have a thermometer with me (fail!) so we went home and I took her temp to see that it was mid 102s. Once after her shots she was like, 101. And she was never noticeably super hot. Maybe just warm. So I got all freaked out and we brought her to the ped right away and they called it roseola asap, saying that it comes on very suddenly and usually presents in the 102s. It lasted about 3 days of her running fever (and I administered Tylenol and Motrin but we found that she seemed more comfortable on Tylenol)and when it broke, she was super sweaty for a few hours, but obviously feeling a lot better and very happy. Then I noticed the faintest of faint rashes on her back when bathing her.
I hope your LO feels better asap:(

Yes, we usually give her Tylenol when her fever is over 101 or 102. We have never tried Motrin.
Hope she feels better soon!
