We give a little extra money to our nanny on her birthday... it got me to wondering if anyone else with a nanny gives out cash or presents on their birthday?

I only had a nanny for a few months but I did give her a bday gift since she was employed during her bday. Now she's our occasional babysitter so I just give her a Xmas gift. I am all for being generous to people who take care of my child to make sure that they do an extra good job! And to show appreciation, of course.

I usually get a gift from the families I've worked for. nothing extravagant, one year I got a scarf.

Well, our dayhome provider is like a nanny in her own home. Her birthday is this weekend and I bought her this little clutch and a GC to Tim Hortons. She is so worth it!

I'm hoping she likes it, I gave her the gift receipt too just in case it's not her style.

We gave her a card with cash in it. We weren't confident enough to pick a gift that we knew she wanted or needed, so thought it would be wasteful to just get "something", when she can use the cash any way she likes, and it still shows that we thought of her. Or, at least, we hope it does.

I got gifts for birthday's and Christmas. I got things in the range of nice amounts of cash, gift cards, nice purses etc. I was most happy with the cash and gift cards.
