I've always liked the idea of a neighborhood bar, ever since watching Cheers so many years ago. But I've never really been a regular at a bar... I'll go to one once every few years with friends, and that's about it.
I'd love to have a place to where everybody knows my name, and is always glad I came. But so far, the only place like that is home... and I'm not sure Olive even knows my name yet haha!

My friends and I are regulars. It feels nice to be recognized and to have our drink orders memorized.

I only ever go to bars with friends on special occasions. And there aren't many bars around here that aren't totally sketchy, so I certainly wouldn't want to be a regular there. Although its kinda lame, I think most people's regular bar is inside chain restaurants around here.

I have been. My best friend and I went through a party phase the year leading up to me getting married and we went to this bar called Big Daddy's almost every weekend. We had our own bartender, they all recognized us... it was kind of ridiculous. lol

At one point in my life, I was a regular. Like, was at this bar 4 or 5 times a week! I would go a couple of weeknights and get dinner, then always on Friday and Saturday night, then usually Sunday afternoon for football or just to hang out. Most of the bartenders knew me, lots of the other regulars accepted me into their group, and even my family members started going there with me.
@mrbee: This bar really felt like the cheers bar where everyone knows your name!

There was an awesome bar/restaurant a couple blocks from where I lived when I was in grad school. My boyfriend at the time and I would go a few nights a week, but usually we ate dinner there as well. I also went with my roommates and it was our go to place whenever we wanted good food or a good beer.

In grad school, before LO, we had a 2 bars that we went to like once a week or every other week. We didn't know the bartenders or anything like that though.

Yes, we became regulars at a bar because DH and I are avid Brewer fans, buuuttt we don't have cable. So a couple nights a week we used to go to the same bar, and watch the game. Normally have a beer or two, but it's a really fun place. Then about a year about they were looking to hire a bouncer, and DH is a pretty big strong guy, sooo now DH is a part time bouncer there. So whenever we go in now, they really REALLY know us!

For about 4 years I was a regular at a bar. About 3 of those years I was dating a bartender there so I always got free drinks! And so did some of my friends. It was nice...even on the days he wasn't working, I knew the rest of the staff (who gave me discounted drinks) and the other regulars. It was the only bar I could walk into alone and be comfortable.
I miss it! (but not him)

We don't really go out enough any more to have a regular bar these days. Haven't in years. About 6 or 7 years ago, my best friend and I would meet at a bar every Wednesday night to have dinner and drinks. The bartender had been his college roommate, so he usually hooked us up. We got to know the owner and waitstaff. Sean always knew what we wanted the second we walked in the door. Never had to actually order anything! It was great.

Yup, at our old apartment there was a bar we used to go to weekly and became friends with the bartender. We still go for dinner and everybody still recognize us.

Yes, when I was doing my Masters, I'd go to a bar with my classmates after our classes. We'd go every single Saturday, it was pretty ridiculous.
I also had a summer house on the shore for a few summers, and you get to be a regular there too, lol.

In college, I was most definitely a regular! These days, I'm only a semi-regular. We visit our favorite bar once a week at least, usually on Thursdays and the bartender that works Thursdays knows us by name, but I wouldn't say any of the other patrons know us or anything.

We are regulars at an Irish bar/restaurant. DH loves European soccer so we go to a restaurant/bar almost every weekend during the primer league season. They have a great brunch and is very family friendly.

I guess part of growing up in a small town is when you walk into the town bar they all know your name, even if you haven't been in there in months! I have always liked that, they even ask if you want the "usual." (However in a town my size, the usual is the kind of beer about 90% of us drink!)
In college I was a regular at a bar, where I didn't have to show my ID to get in the door, all the bartenders knew me, ect. which was kind of nice! It was a college bar in a college town, but I guess I made an impression! haha that's not the case anymore!

We used to go to bars pretty frequently, but switched it up often enough that we weren't regulars anywhere. Now we don't really go out enough for that. My co-worker and I are regulars at lunch at a local sushi place though! And the drive-thru baristas at Starbucks definitely know my name...

there is a wine bar downtown here that i love to go with friends to, and they have a great patio--and everyone knows us by name! i still go with friends because they have great tapas...can't wait to drink some wine after not a drop for 32 weeks and counting!

My friends and I used to always go to the same bars so we were regulars at a bunch of places. We were also regulars at this diner for a while - we always met there after work before going for drinks. Now we're regulars at certain restaurants. The staff will always ask about our kids if we're not with them. It's really nice.

DH and I have a bar/small restaurant that we are regulars at and have been for about 6 years. The managers and several of the servers know us, LO and even our dog (we're able to take her in the summer when we can sit on the patio). Since LO arrived we haven't gone nearly as much as prior to LO but it is still a regular fallback for when we want to go out and grab a bite or DH wants to grab a beer (I can't since pregnant with #2).

when I was in college in england I would go to the "pub" which is basically a bar, but the only bars I go to here are in chain restaurants like Fridays or chilli's

in college, we had two places we were regulars. but since half the school were regulars, i don't think the bartenders really cared. but we did hang out with everyone we knew every time we went.

i did back in the day, my friend was a bartender so i drank for free. then, for the brief time when i lived alone, i thought it would be fun to go to the bar at the end of my street by myself (living alone was lonely, i need people, and i had cheers fantasies) but ended up being followed home by a guy and he was a scary stalker guy that took also 6 months of hell to get rid of. now i have to desire to go to a bar by myself.
