We're not religious so we don't go to church. But I was raised Catholic and went to church every weekend with my mom growing up. I remember on normal weekends the church was pretty full, but all of a sudden on holidays it was standing room only.
Do you go to church/temple/whatever else every weekend? If so, does it bother you when it's suddenly crowded on holidays?

We don't go every week but we try to go a few times a month, and we make holidays as well. I wish we made it every week but we start slacking and sleeping in

We don't go every weekend because some weekend DH is at work. I prefer to go with him and not alone. DH grew up Catholic and sometimes we will go to Mass on a holiday with his family. So it doesn't bother me when the church is crowded because I've been that person.

We go every weekend. I can't go the weekends I work so dh and lo go without me.
Eta: I hate crowds so the insane amount of people there during holidays makes me anxious.

We try to go every wk! If we can't make it, we partake in mass on tv!
We try to go to an 8am service on holidays (our usual service is at 945) and usually beat out the crowds. I used to get annoyed, but in age have realized that even if it's around the holidays, the fact that ppl are congregating to worship is always a good thing!

We used to go every weekend. We're Catholic too. Our current church is kind of...unsatisfying. DH is very disillusioned right now too. But we'll definitely start going as DD gets older.

When I was growing up we went every week, until my parents had a falling out with the pastor and they stopped going except for holidays and I went every week with my grandparents instead. Then through later teen years/college we were "Chreasters" (i.e. only went at Christmas and Easter). Now I think it's been 3-ish years since we've been (Easter went next but we held onto Christmas for a while).
All that was where I grew up though. I've never been to a church in the city I live in, even though I've been here over a decade. I do consider myself religious but I don't feel a strong pull towards "church community" and my husband is very uncomfortable with churches. When we got engaged we talked about what we'd do when we had kids and I thought I'd want to start going again when we had a LO so s/he could grow up in a church like I did (which he said he'd be okay if I took our kid as long as he didn't have to go). Now that our LO is on the way I'm not too sure I will though. I guess we'll see.

@Ash: I work near Lakewood Church...even if I were religious I could never go there. The crowds (even on non-holidays) are insane! Makes me anxious just thinking about it.

I'm actually an atheist but my wife is catholic and we go to mass occasionally. We don't go regularly because she is usually working and though I have gone myself its hard to be motivated. I love going to Easter and Christmas just for extra pomp and circumstance but we go on regular weekends too.

We go for Holidays. But now that R isn't napping right during prime church time, we are going to start going every week. Just have to find one that we agree on and that is going to be our issue.

@lawbee11: my FIL is obsessed with Joel Osteen so he made us take my DD there to be "blessed" by him (aka shake his hand) after she was born. It was an insane experience!
We used to be regular church goers but we have fallen off the wagon. We do go for special days though.

oh man, we go a whole lot. we go to the morning and evening services at our church- and we go on wednesday nights. we just really love our church and our church family and of course Jesus. it doesn't bother me when it's crowded on holidays- it'd be cool if it was like that every sunday though!

We go every weekend! I agree, it used to bother me that Church got crowded on Christmas and Easter, but it's a happy problem to have a full Church!
My one exception is the 4:30 Christmas Eve Mass-I'm glad it's full, but that Mass is so crazy that I avoid it like the plague. I'm glad it exists, but it's not for me

@whenoceansrise: That's how I grew up, and I miss it. I have yet to find a church here that I really love like my home church (plus DH is Lutheran, so that's a whole other issue)

@AmandaB8: I'm sorry that your current place is unsatisfying-that's such a crappy feeling I know that they're all technically "the same" in that they all offer Mass, but I know what you mean about a Church community just not doing it for you. Our current one is OK, but not great. We've looked around a bit at other parishes, but honestly, the ones around us are all equally not great. So for now, we go and make the best of what we've got.
I hope that you can find a home that makes you feel comfortable, even with a bitty. I had always sorta assumed that we would go back right away after the baby, but I can understand how it would be really hard. Heck, I'm having a really rough time now, and I'm still pregnant. All that to say, don't feel bad. You do what you can, and the rest will come in time

We go to church twice a week - Wed night for prayer meeting, and Sunday morning for regular service. Sometimes we go on Saturdays too depending on if there's a special meeting or event. I love when the church is full! Means more people are getting to hear the gospel.

I want to start going regularly again. I found a church that I think I will like, so I'm going to go this Sunday and try to go every Sunday for a month to make sure it clicks. I really want LO to grow up in the church and come to know Jesus.
I love the extra crowds on Easter and Christmas!

we went every sunday for a while (and i don't even believe in god!), but then mr. bird started working sundays and we haven't been able to go. it's funny, he pretty much had to drag me there, i'd never been to a sunday service before going with him, but i miss it now. it's a UU church, so it wasn't so much about worshiping a certain god as it was a time for me every wk to reflect on what it meant to be a good and productive member of this world and the community. it was a positive experience for me and i'd like to go back to attending regularly

We go every Sunday, but all the other members do as well. It is more full on Easter Sunday, but that's because we have a huge Bible conference that weekend at a conference centre (hosted by our church and several other, similar churches in the area). Sunday morning service is held at the individual churches, so there are lots of visitors.

We go on holidays, unless we are traveling and a few other times throughout the year. We really like our church so I'm not sure why it isn't a more regular part of our lives.

@Glitter: We used to get out to Tuesday prayer and Bible study, but since LO, we haven't. She goes to bed at 7, I'm still nursing, and by the time she's in bed, all the dishes, laundry, cleaning etc. have to get done. I'd like for us to start alternating weeks so at least one of us can get out!

@tinyperson: yeh, I worry about that. Many moms aren't able to attend mid-week meetings as frequently when LO's arrive. DH is church staff so he'll need to be there. I'm hoping my MIL lets me rotate with her sometimes since we both go every Wed.

We go every week. I don't mind when it's busy for the holidays. We just get there early to get our usual spot, but DH is often lectoring (reading), so we'd be there early anyway.

We go every week. Our faith and church are a central part part of our lives. I wasn't prepared though for how stressful it would be to take a baby to church. Sundays and attending church meant that her nap schedule got out of wack.

I love going to church! I go at least once a week; always on Sunday mornings. I am not ever bothered when a church fills up on holidays. It's great! I find it is mostly additional family members who are visiting from out of town.
Just from my own limited observations, it seems that Catholics are more prone to fall into the C&E habit (Christmas and Easter) and that Catholics kids grow up to be unreligious more so than Protestants. That always baffles me. In any event, it's always great to see anyone in church at any time.

We try to go as often as possible. I don't mind the crowds but I try to be mindful that some folks might be new visitors and others might be semi-lapsed members - to not assume that someone's a visitor just because I've never seen someone at church before.

We go every Sunday. I don't mind when it's more crowded on holidays! I wish it were like that every Sunday. Although we have a bit of a lateness problem in my family so it's sort of a shock when we can't just sneak into our back row seats like always!!
