We just went to a 10am movie for the first time ever! We woke up early at 7:30 and couldn't go back to sleep, so we went to see the 10am showing of Skyfall (new Bond movie). It was so enjoyable! Tix were cheap, $7.50 (compared to $11 or $12 for a new release), parking was a breeze and didn't have to fight the crowds! May do this more often for new releases.
I posted this on FB and one of my friends said we are old, because that is old people's time, hahaha.

before baby we used to go whenever. the.. 1 time we went to the movies post baby (for dark knight rises) we went to a matinee.

I like watching matinees. Why pay more for the same movie? Also, get bad seats later on when crowded.

We always go to matinee. Our theater has an early bird price of $5 for the first showing of the day. It's usually 10:45.

We started doing matinees post-baby. No babysitter needed if we take the afternoon off while she is in daycare!

Never with DH because he is not an early riser. But my bff and I have done it before. It is great for when hyped up movies come out (like Harry Potter/Hunger Games). We can see it on opening weekend but don't have trouble getting seats/tickets because most people don't think to go at that time.

Love a matinee. They actually have a program at a local theater called 'Stars and Strollers' where once a week they show a matinee at 1pm and it is geared to moms with little ones. The turn the sound down, dim but don't completely darken the lights and they have a change table station right in the theater with stroller parking outside in the hall. I love it, great way to catch up on a new movie withouth having to find a babysitter.

I love to go to matinees at the dollar theater near my parents. Especially if I have a few hours to kill before meeting them for dinner or something. It is also right next to a Nordstrom Rack, which is very nice

@sslm: Haha, I know what you mean! It was bright out when we left the theater today at 12:30PM, and it felt odd because we ALWAYS go at night!
