Do you hand out candy on Halloween or turn your lights off?
I purposely made plans for DS and I (he's too young for trick or treating) so that I wouldn't be home to hand out candy, I'm the Grinch of Halloween!!

Since I've moved out of my family's house 3 years ago, I have not. I will probably start when I have a LO.

We usually do, but arent this year.
We are in a weird situation of being American and living in a country where they dont celebrate it as much. We live in an area that is well-known for having lots of Americans, so people drive their kids to our neighborhood to trick-or-treat and get American candy. I've dealt with a lot of BS and ungratefulness the past 2 years, so Im not playing this year.

We live just outside the city, on a busy road, with a long gated driveway. Even if the gate is open and the lights are on we don't get any kids. I guess it is kinda spooky...lol. I miss handing out candy though...

We had trick or treat on Sunday, and I did not hand out any candy I'm a party pooper. But on Friday we have a neighborhood night time trick or treat, it's only for about 4 blocks. I will probably sit outside and hand out candy then though!

Nope, no trick or treaters in the 6 years we've lived here. Sad.
First couple years I bought candy just in case, but no one ever showed up.

No one came to our apartment last year, so we didn't even buy any candy this year.

We do. We are having a dilemma this year because I want to take the kids ToT as a family but DH feels one of us should stay home and hand out candy (I'm all for the bowl with a note asking to be considerate of others and only take 1 piece). We'll likely split the difference with me taking both kids to a few houses while DH hands out candy then DH and DD can go to more houses while I'm putting DS to bed after which I'll hand out more candy if it isn't too late.

We do, but DH is actually excited for the 90% chance of rain during ToT time (6-8pm) because he doesn't want kids to run over and ruin our solar lights he just put up around our sidewalk/walkway. He says he feels like the Grinch for smiling at the weather report.

Nope, we go out, so no one is home to pass it out. Our community is too quiet for trick or treaters, anyways.

This is our first year where it is possible and I am undecided. I know my son is going to be a pill and my husband is working late, so I'll be on my own!
I hate that we have to turn our lights off, we always have the front of our house illuminated.

I buy candy, but we live on a busy road and have only gotten a few trick or treaters in the past

We live in a huge subdivision and get over a hundred trick or treaters easy. We buy 4-5 Costco bags every year. My husband gives out handfuls of candy bc he loves making kids happy. This year he bought the full size candy bars...I'm really hoping kids are honest and don't come back to the house multiple times. It's hard to keep track bc they come in groups

Yes, we hand out candy but don't seem to get tons of kids so I never know how much to buy. We're going to take M out this year just for fun so I'll probably leave the bowl outside at that point with a note. We did that one year when we were out and I was pleasantly surprised that kids respected it and only took one piece each.

We always do, but I usually eat half of it. This year we're taking Sadie ToT'ing with her cousins, so we won't be home to pass anything out.

We don't get trick or treaters. The first year we bought our house, I bought 5lbs of candy to hand out, and was super excited. We even turned down a Halloween party that all our friends were going to and was hosted by a friend. We didn't get one single kid. I told the hubby if we get ONE kid, they can have ALL our candy. No dice. I was so depressed, I went to bed at 8pm.

I buy a bowlful every year but we very rarely have anyone knock the door!

We bought a huge bag at Costco so I really hope we get some Trick or Treaters. Otherwise I am bringing to work so DH and I don't eat it all.

We didn't get anyone but the neighbor across the street at the old house but just moved and super excited because tons of kids on our street. We plan on having the fire pit in the driveway and decaf with disposable cups for adults and lots of candy for kids. LO will be asleep for most of it but I love seeing all the kids costumes. Plus a good way to meet all of our new neighbors.

We hardly get any kids at our house so we wait around for people in our neighborhood or leave a bucket of candy out and then go out to dinner.

Yes! I will be rushing home from work tomorrow to do it--trick or treating is 330-730 in our town. My sister is coming over to help me.

We bought candy for it, but we don't get many trick or treaters. We only had 1 last year! More candy for me!
