We do have a backup - his lovey is an Angel Dear lovey. We rotate them out, but he's only 6.5 months so he doesn't have a super strong attachment to it yet.

I just bought a backup recently!

DS like all of his A&A blankets and security blankets. We have 8 of the big and 6 security blankets in rotation.

Yup. She loves her monkeys... We have several, but there are two that she is very attached to. It's great that she loves both equally so we have one that can travel and one that always stays home

Yep, we have 2 backup bunny loveys. Last night, the one I washed a few days ago got gross. We did a bait and switch before story time to get him a clean one. We also have multiple blankets since he takes the same one to preschool. So, we have 4 A&A dream blankets. He's aware of them, so no issues there.

We have three of my daughter's teddies, one goes to school and comes home on the weekends to be washed. Another is the one she has most of the time and the third is hidden for laundry emergencies. We've rotated them fairly regularly and haven't had any complaints about it not being the "right" one. Sometimes on Fridays, she won't let me put the school teddy in her backpack, insisting instead on holding it, and when we get home, she'll have both "school teddy" and "home teddy". I usually try to separate the two once she's distracted. But because of those situations, we've probably mixed up all the teddies a few times.

Sort of. Luckily, she got attached to two totally different stuff animals so we usually only bring one with us when we go out. I'm also planning on getting her another similar one for her Easter basket (one of her loveys is a grey jellycat bunny, so I just got a different colored bunny). I'm hoping she'll like that as much as the other one so we can have another backup. I wouldn't try to get another duplicate one though. I think she'd know the difference.

Yes - it was a desperate scour of Target stores across the county to find it, too! It is a small, beanie baby sized dog (a springer spaniel) - my sister got it for her one visit because it looked like my sisters dog. Her plan had been just to give it as airplane entertainment, but LO latched on and adores the thing! It's not really made for that much love and was wearing out fast, so we searched until we found another one (and would have bought more if we found them!)

For the big swap, we just told her one day that Doggie was getting a bath while she went to the park and presented her with the new one once she got home. That worked, and now the two are equally tatty looking (I mean, equally loved!)

Eta: she's going on three and has NO IDEA there are two Doggies - I'm super sly about when and how I wash them
