We met a long time ago, and it was actually through my ex boyfriend. They had a mutual friend. We started out facebooking and IMing and then calling/texting each other. Now we talk to each other on a daily basis about general life stuff. We have always just happened to be in similar walks of life so it's been pretty cool. She had a baby just a couple months after me.
We haven't met yet, but we're trying to plan a trip for me to come visit her in December.

Yes, and she knows who she is! We tried to meet up a few months ago, but baby schedules didn't work out... We're going to meet up in the next couple of months though!

Actually yes! My best friend (who ended up being my Maid of Honor) and I met online.
She wrote to me on Myspace (back when I still had myspace, lol) and told me that she read about me in a magazine and she wanted to talk to me cause she thought we had a lot in common. We started IMing, and then emailing, and then phone conversations...
Ended up meeting at a conference, met a few more times, and then she moved to Albania to work with my organization and we shared an apartment for a year.
We're still best friends, years later.

Yes I have plenty of best friends who I have met online. I know I am lame but with my social anxiety I can't go out anymore or hang out so I am losing my real life friends. My online friends don't need to hangout to know what we are friends.

I do. I met a friend through an online scrapbooking group. We started Google chatting privately and it was the best day ever when we met in person the first time! I love her so much irl and online.

I do! We work together at a video conferencing company and we're Co-workers. We had video calls tons of times and we finally met in real life when she went to my baby shower.

I met DH online at a dating website, but I also met my best friend online as young teenagers. We both posted regularly on the teenage chicken soup message boards and I flew up to meet her 6 years later... About 6 months after that I moved out of state and we were roommates for about 3 years before I moved back to my home state... We met about 14 years ago and at this point she is my longest standing friend.
