We don't, never in my life. Wish I do!!! I dunno why we are so stingy on that.

We don't...we've discussed it in the past but I always nixed it (he left the choice to me) since we *should* reasonably be able to clean up after ourselves. That may change with kidlets arriving soon.

No but I have been seriously considering it, especially after I go back to work!

We used to but cancelled when we moved, since the new place is more expensive and I'm now staying at home. I would consider having someone come just every once in a while for the deep cleaning neither of us want to do though (scrubbing the tiles in the bath, etc).

I have someone come once a month, best day of the month
My DH grumbles about the cost but he hasn't offered to scrub the bathrooms instead

We do. I'm a neat freak, DH not so much. I think having someone come twice a month has saved our marriage! We never fight about cleaning/house chores anymore and it used to be a subject that we would bicker about frequently.

Yes, I cannot have the time to clean 2000 square feet and work a full time job.
We outsource a lot though, including big landscaping jobs.

No, but we recently got rid of our cellphone plan (we got company phones) and cut back on our cable bill , so I'm thinking that the money we save there would be put to good use on a cleaning lady!!
Being a WOHM is tough, I don't need to have my dirty floors taunting me on the weekends when I'm trying to spend quality time with DS.

No, we split the chores and do them throughout the week so it's manageable.
persimmon / 1205 posts
Yes, every other week she comes and it's WONDERFUL. We don't have a huge house so it's not a ton of money.

We don't now, and I don't think it's something I'd ever do. We used a service growing up and they stole from my mom's jewelry box, so that has tainted my view of those services. If I ever used one, I would find someone who works independently.

Nope. Can't afford it! But I would love it. I can barely keep up with the dog hair!

Yes, and it's been a lifesaver. We started a few months back after I had already been back at work a few months and we had a good gauge on things. We were spending half a day on the weekend cleaning, with one of us watching the baby and the other cleaning. It took a good chunk out of our weekend and I felt we were just keeping up with the bare minimum. We now use a service every other week and they do everything (baseboards, ceiling fans, wash hardwood floors by hand). It's sooooo nice to have that time on the weekends back to spend as a family.

Yes. She comes every two weeks. DH is terrible at keeping house and not at all tidy. I spend quite a bit of time each day picking up after him, so much so that the deep cleaning doesn't get done. Having her keeps me sane. Cheaper than marriage counselling.

Nope. We have a very small apartment.
I do want someone to clean our oven though cause I hate it

@Mrs. Pen: it doesn't have a self clean setting??
i used to, not anymore

No. I work part time and have plenty of time to clean.

We don't, though we did hire someone to come in and clean before I had Chloe. That was nice! Will prob do that again for baby #2.

Yup. As a full time WOHM I don't want to spend the limited time I have at home with my daughter and husband cleaning toilets. We actually just decided yesterday we're going to have her come more frequently.

Yes. Every other week. My husband fought it for a while because he hadn't ever had one growing up (I did), but even he agrees it's one of the best things we ever did. Saves so many cleaning fights!

Yep and it's the best money we spend! Someone has been coming every other week for years. I still do a lot of housework but it is really nice not to have to scrub down bathrooms and floors.

Nope, I'm one of those rare creatures tht actually enjoys cleaning and finds it therapeutic my OCD nature also means things have to be *just so* and the few times I've had a cleaning person, I wasn't 100% satisfied w/ the job they did.

No, I so wish we did though! I'm a horrible cleaner (try as I may. ugh)
nectarine / 2152 posts
Yup, every other week! For $80 she cleans the entire apartment and it is a lifesaver! So thankful we got her!

I wish! I have no idea how I'm going to work, study, and take care of LO on top of keeping our house clean. I brought it up to DH yesterday and he laughed at me
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
We do. My mom always did. I used to do the cleaning but it was pretty rough on me because chemical smells give me migraines, and DH never trusted that natural cleaning supplies actually clean. When my LO came my grandma gifted me a cleaning lady, and when my grandma passed away my mom took over paying for her. She's the same one that my mom has. I could never go back now, I will always have a cleaning lady!

No, it's just not in the budget and I can usually find the time to clean.

We used to have someone who came once/month to deep clean and I looooooved it. It's so much easier to do the little stuff on a weekly basis when you know someone else is scrubbing your shower and baseboards haha.
We ended up canceling it because we had some increased monthly costs and something had to go to offset it--- we've talked about hiring her back now that my husband got a raise but honestly at this point being pregnant I feel like we should just savesavesave as much as possible.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@artbee: same, i'll never go back i'd rather cut something else!

We do. I had one growing up so I'm used to it. DH wasn't on board at first, but now he loves it. We just don't have time to clean. We're always running around on the weekends and I have no energy to do anything after work. I also hate cleaning, so it's money well spent, IMO.
pomegranate / 3411 posts
no, we live in a small apartment and can't justify the cost now. I am also home on mat leave now (yet DH does most of the cleaning!). I can see us doing it when we have a house in the future, I am back at work full time, and when we have a second LO.
