I don't have one of their desks, but I do keep admiring something like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49932830/ I love the idea of a secretary that folds open and then closes up snug for storage.

I have an ikea secretary desk like the one maisymay posted but that doesn't have the storage cabinet on the bottom, it's just open. I don't think they make it anymore-- it was the alve-- but it's awesome. The desk part pulls down so it saves a lot of room when you don't need it. I think that one would still have leg room though-- you'd have the room underneath the desk when it pulls out. Mine has so much legroom without the cabinet underneath that my dogs regularly sleep there while I'm wprking without me noticing, and I've stored other stuff under when I was short on space. You'd need to store the chair elsewhere if it isn't pulled down though

I used a secretary for awhile and it was fine with a chair. It was nice because you could keep the chair in a corner or even at your table and just pull it over as needed so it wasn't in the way. It made the footprint smaller.

@mediagirl: aww thanks! I love it. I'm losing my home office now (where I do like 75% of my work) to make room for our nursery, so now my desk is in a corner of our dining room, and since it's along the same wall as other white furniture (also Ikea, a white Hemnes console table and bookcase) it totally blends in when the desk is pulled up. It's great, super compact but still has plenty of room to be a productive workspace

I have the Micke desk. its got decent storage, 2 drawers and a cabinet with 2 adjustable shelves.
