I don't. Neither of my kids are or have ever been like this, except maybe the first 4 weeks of life. Unlucky me!
Do you have a "fall asleep anywhere" type of child?

Definitely not! He doesn't even nap in the car unless it's way past bedtime and we've been driving for 1 hr+. He has to be in his bed for naptime/bedtime.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I did for both LOs but it only lasted til 13-14 months. LO 1 napped better away from home....she fought naps at home forever!
nectarine / 2272 posts
Yep he's pretty chill about sleeping. He sleeps in hotels, at other peoples houses, on the couch, on the subway, on Amtrak....
Eta: I was super worried about him sleeping on the little cots at daycare and I have confirmed he falls asleep there in about 90 seconds and it's his first week.

Sort of. Girlfriend fights naps (and always has), but if she's ready she will go to sleep anywhere. She just curls up on me when she's ready - fell asleep during a fireworks show, outdoor concert, flights, etc.
pomegranate / 3355 posts
No. DD needs to be in her crib/pnp to sleep. I think I can count on my one hand the amount of times she's fallen asleep elsewhere (including car seat). But she'll sleep in hotels, other peoples houses as long as she has a pnp.
pineapple / 12802 posts
No! definitely not! ahaha. He likes his bed and owl and darkness. If there's too much going on he wants to be part of the action.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Xander was, but Logan's not. He needs to be in his crib/bassinet/pnp to fall asleep (or attached to Mama). Though he apparently sleeps well in swings at daycare.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Yup.
DD1 fell asleep during dinner with a piece of food hanging from her lips.
It's still too early to tell for DD2.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
Nope. She needs to be put down for a nap in an appropriate place- though luckily she can be flexible with crib vs pnp away from home. Or in the car or stroller, now. But just getting tired and curling up and sleeping, never.

@oliviaoblivia: LOL! My youngest brother was like this. I have memories of him falling the sleep in his high chair at dinner all the time.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
From the very beginning, she was never like that. I was bouncing her in the newborn class you have to take before leaving the hospital while all the other babies were passed out.

He will sleep anywhere at night - hotel, grandparents, etc - without an issue. He has my husband's ability to fall asleep instantly, literally. But he's not a randomly fall asleep on the couch kid.
pear / 1672 posts
Nope. Needs a place to sleep like a travel crib or regular crib. The world is too exciting for her to fall asleep.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Nope. He'll sometimes nap in the car, but otherwise needs to be in a bed. I'm a little sad I never got to have pictures of him falling asleep in his high chair or anything like that!
nectarine / 2521 posts
Until about 6 months when we transitioned to crib naps, and since then he has to be in his crib. He will sometimes catnap in his carseat.
coconut / 8861 posts
Nope! He doesn't even sleep in the car. It'll help if he's exhausted and napless. Car rides are fun, not sleep time. My nieces and nephews can fall asleep so easily in the car. Jealous of that.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
HA! No. No sleeping babies in high chairs or anything for me. My kids are also fall asleep never kids
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
The first 3 ish months yes but now I do not and am always jealous of kids that do! lol
pomegranate / 3858 posts
Nope - She won't sleep in the car (unless we're on the highway for at least an hour, and then it's usually only 45-60 mins), the stroller (unless we're out for a long time), or the plane -- but she does sleep in her crib nicely now
pomelo / 5093 posts
Yes, she's like my husband - she will literally fall asleep on the living room floor if she'd like. I see how very different my life is than people who don't have one. I never have to leave somewhere to avoid a meltdown, or rush home for naptime. She'll just nap in the car or on the bike or in someone's arms if she needs to.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
Sigh, no. He will sleep in the carseat, but only while the car is in motion. If we stop, he's awake. Otherwise, he needs bed, darkness, white noise. I'm so jealous of his cousin who is 2.5 months older - that kid just falls asleep anywhere so they can take him wherever they want and carry him in his carseat. He just passes out when he's tired.

She'll fall asleep on me anywhere. But heaven forbid I try to put her down.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
No way. She has a severe case of Fear of Missing Out. She will fall asleep in car or stroller when she is tired though.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Yeah for the most part, it can be hit or miss, but just last week she crashed at a college gymnastics meet, 2 1/2 I think that's pretty good. Car is always a sure thing.
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Not at all. If there is anything even remotely interesting going on they won't dare to close their eyes.
coconut / 8483 posts
Nope! Sleeps in the car if its nap time. And would sleep in a swing at someone else's house of it was nap time when he was younger. Never falls asleep on the floor or anything. Once fell asleep in the high chair when he was up for wayyyyy too long and it was the shock of my life! My friends kids fall asleep in the jumperoo!!
kiwi / 728 posts
No. She won't sleep anywhere but her crib. No car, stroller, etc. It kinda sucks, but at least she naps in her crib!! She thinks car rides and stroller rides are fun time and can't miss a moment.
grapefruit / 4923 posts
nope. i wish he would at least fall asleep in our bed for weekend naps, but he gets all excited.
pear / 1955 posts
I'm a fall-asleep-anywhere kind of person, so I'm really hoping my kids will inherit it!
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
A child that falls asleep anywhere?? That's a dream!
persimmon / 1367 posts
Sort of - my five month old hates napping because she might miss something, but if sleeping happens, it can happen anywhere.
pineapple / 12053 posts
Not since 6 months. She'll still nap in the car or on a bike ride and we can depend on the carrier for a nap even at 2 years old, but definitely not on the floor or something like that.
eggplant / 11287 posts
Nope. I have kids who are allergic to sleep.
I could keep them up for 16 hours and still have to fight them go go down.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Yes. She knows when she is tired and zonks if we're out and she's sleepy! I have done more car to crib transfers than I could count.
