We have a fire ladder under our bed. We haven't practiced a fire plan, though. Our lo's room is on the other side of the house from us. I think we would run through fire to get over to her room (and hopefully remember to take the ladder with us...) It's a good drop from our bedrooms to the ground.

We don't have a plan, but we're in a one story home. It's just me and the hubby right now so we'd probably get out of there ASAP, probably through the front door. Once LO is here, we'll probably implement something more in stone like an agreed upon meeting place.

We live in a 1-story house, so our plan would be to grab LO and go out the nursery window, which opens up onto the front of the house and cul-de-sac. It's a big window only a foot or so off the ground, easy to open and get out of (we've actually had conversations joking about how LO will have an easy time sneaking out!!)

We’re in a first floor condo with fire sprinklers. If a fire ever happened, we wouldn’t have an issue getting out, though I’m pretty sure the sprinklers would kick on long before we had to escape anyway.

@MrsCB: I’ve burned my fair share of things in the kitchen and never had the sprinklers go off. I’m pretty sure ours need direct heat in order to trigger.

Yikes, we really don't have a plan. We have a security system that will alert the fire department if a certain smoke detector is set off, but that's about it. You can also open our second story windows and climb out onto the porch roof, which I guess would be our out until help arrived.

@MrsCB: our old apartment had them too! I set off the smoke alarm a few times and they never came on. I think they have to heat up to a certain degree?

Actually this just came up during our inspection in the house we are moving into. It was built in 1958 and has the original windows and storm windowS. It's also on a pier and beam which has caused a slight shift and none of the windows open which is a fire code hazard/

Fire safety is something I don't mess around with. I've had to escape from a burning building before, it is no bueno Because of that I always keep a pair of shoes next to my bed (I wasn't wearing shoes the first-and hopefully only-time that has happened). Where we live now, it wouldn't be a big deal. We are on the ground floor, and there is the main exit (front door) off the living room and a back exit off the bedroom. The kitchen window is low enough that it would work as an escape as well.
