Unfortunately I feel like Dh's always the good cop and I'm the bad cop. I really don't want to be, but he's the fun guy and I'm the rule enforcer. (he will discipline when necessary but I think LO doesn't take him as serious as she does me.)

Both of us dealt with an inequality in parental discipline growing up, so we're pretty mindful of having a united front and disciplining equally. Dh is still more fun in some ways, but he doesn't hesitate to lay down the law.

@LuLu Mom: we have the same set-up. I feel like I'm always the "bad cop"; DH definitely let's LO run on a longer leash than I do! We never undermine each other's authority though - - but, I'm the "bad cop", I think.

@yoursilverlining: yep this could have been written by me! I feel like we have the same set up my parents had! I think his dad was more of the authorize figure and that's why he avoid it!

We're pretty 50/50 on good/bad cop, at least when we're both home. Unfortunately D doesn't get home until after bedtime so I often have to try to find a balance by myself.

@LuLu Mom: Yeah, I think DH is just softer than me lol
Like, an example would be that last week LO said she didn’t feel good and wanted to stay home and DH was all “omg, what if she’s sick? I’ll take the day off. Should we keep her home from school????” and I was just like “ummmm, she says that every day you know. She just would rather stay home and watch movies all day on the sofa than go to school”. Ooooooohhhhhh, he says, surprised!
Or at dinner, LO will only eat the fruit on her plate. DH doesn’t push her, whereas I’m all “okay, now you have to take 2 bites of (whatever) before you can have more fruit” or she’ll want to go play with her toys during dinner, and DH will of course just let her, whereas I’m all “take 5 bites first and then we’ll talk about playing” (basically, make her finish dinner first). Everything is a negotiation with mama around!
