LO is a good night sleeper but a horrible napper!

He's not consistently bad or good for both. Some weeks he's up all the time and hardly naps, and then he'll go days where he sleeps like a champ. It's one of the most frustrating aspects of having a baby so far.

charlie was a good night sleeper and and a great napper. he still is.... it's just that he's been fighting naps and bedtime regularly since we made the transition to a regular bed.
olive is an excellent napper and not a good night sleeper. but we're going to start sleep training tomorrow. it's gotten really bad after 2 months of nonstop sickness, but she's finally all better now!

LO was an awesome napper and night sleeper until about 10 months. She has always been a great night sleeper but figuring out nap transitions were difficult for a while. Now she is back to being a great napper but only takes one nap at 12 months but its usually 2-2.5 hours...still sleeps 13 hrs at night...I'm so scared my next baby will be a terrible sleeper

My oldest was always good with both. My youngest is great at night but naps can be short. Although, he gave us his first 3 hour nap today since he stopped napping on the swing.

@Mrs. Bee: I'm glad she feels better! My LO has been sick for almost a month!

Great night sleeper, horrible napper. He's a super light napper and most days I'm lucky if I get 15 minute naps. And he won't go down on his own...he's either in my arms or in the carseat (either in the stroller or the car). If I even shift he'll wake up...heaven help me if I try to set him down.

@Mrs. Bee: good luck!! I hope Olive responds well. I'll be interested to hear about how you did it because I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to night-wean Cobi too!
It took awhile to get there but I feel like finally they're both pretty good! He sleeps 12.5 hours and wakes once at night and takes two consistent 1.5 hours naps. Oh, he is 9 months old.

Great night/horrible napper @ 2.5 months. Actually just researching this topic tonight too!

She is actually an amazing sleeper for both. The ONLY downside is that she prefers her crib to anywhere else and rarely napst on the go any longer.

Great night sleeper most of the time and decent napper. He goes through phases where he will be a great napper and then the next day he decides to fight then nap and sleep for half a hour.

Mine naps well, and is just okay in the evenings. She wakes up once for a night feed and goes to sleep right away.
@Mrs. Pen: @Mrs. Bee: Pleeease post about how night-weaning goes!
@prettylizy: Mine also has the longest naps in her crib. She will only sleep for one cycle in the Ergo/car.

@caffeinated: I need to bite the bullet and actually do it first!! I said I would night-wean at 6 months because he started solids, but I couldn't do it. Then I said 9 months, but he's 9 months now and idk!!! Now I'm thinking definitely at/by a year old... ahhh!!! He has made me such a softie

@Mrs. Pen: Mine would wake up once at 5am after starting solids which i could deal with, but now at 7 months she is waking up at 2am! I tried to let her cry it out a bit last night (1am) but she would not let up. Ugh! I feel like the older they get, the harder it is to let them cry. I agree, they turn you into softies!

good sleeper and so so napper. I'd rather have it this way though. I need my nighttime sleep!

He naps REALLY well during the morning, and then its hit or miss the rest of the day.
For nights its not consistent to get him to sleep - like yesterday he conked out in his swing from 9?ish to after midnight, nursed, and went right back to ACTUAL bed until 7am (other than nursing twice). Tonight he napped for an hour at 7:30, nursed, & was up until 10:30, then in his swing until 1am, nursed, transferred to actual bed & I juuuusst hear him stirring now at 2am.
Sigh.

Awesome napper, not a great night sleeper. Night sleep has gotten much better lately, no sleep training required, we are down to 1-2 night wake ups now and he did it all on his own!

@prettylizy: Same here.
C is great for both most of the times, as long as we're home. She does not nap on the go hardly at all.

After sleep training, my lo is a great night sleeper and good napper. Like @prettylizy though, she has problems napping on the go.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Inconsistent here. Used to be a decent night sleeper (one night wake) and awful napper (30 mins) but the past 3 or so weeks has had worse nightseep (2 wakes at least) and good naps (an hour or more). He still can nap on the go.

He's a great night sleeper and a decent napper. He always takes a good morning nap but the afternoon nap is hit or miss. At night he will go to sleep with a big smile and without a fuss whenever we put him down though (whether it be 2 or 4 hours from his last nap) and we won't hear from him until morning (11-12.5 hours later).

So far so good for my LO. She's a month old, and can nap anywhere and will only wake once for a feeding at night. I'm hoping it won't change (well, except getting rid of that one night feeding!)
