Was surprised that so many people have ditched land lines!!
We used to have only cell phones, but our apartment gets terrible reception... plus it's just so expensive to talk on your cell phone. So we got a land line (cable phone) and it's been a big money saver.
Do you have a land line these days? If not, when did you cut the landline and go mobile only?

I haven't had a land line since medical school. We've debated getting one now that we have kids, but haven't yet found a need.

No land line. We never use up our cell phone minutes on our basic iPhone family plan, so there's no point for us to get a land line in addition to our cell phones.

No land lines here! I switched cell services recently, but before I switched, the service in my apartment was awful. Drove me nuts!

We have never had a land line in the 3 years we have been living together. Our families all have the same cell phone provider so it is no extra to use our cells with them.
We also have terrible reception in out townhouse! We basically live in a deadzone!

At least 8 years?
My parents still have one at their house though.

@anbanan15: @MrsSCB: Did you know that you can call your provider and have them boost your service at no extra charge? Our house was also a dead zone until we got a boost. Now I get great reception at home. We just called and requested it.

It's been years and years since I had a land line. My mom still has one though!
I'm not a big phone talker, so I don't even use that many minutes on my phone. Now...texting and data is another story, but I get unlimited for those.

@mrbee: haha whoops ! Misunderstood ! Of course my parents did and still do ! But when I moved out I haven't had one (of my own) since then! The only reason my parents still do is bc their service is kind of hit or miss at home !

No landline. I had one when I first moved to the city I currently live in 5 years ago but I only ever got calls from telemarketers so I cut it off.

can't remember the last time i had a land line... has to be over 12 years ago, but we're considering getting one bc two-months ago i killed my cell phone minutes wfh more than usual. both dh and i have wfh schedules now so a landline would make more sense for us.

We've gone without when we lived in an area with good cell service, but now we're in the middle of nowhere and it's pointless to even answer when a cell phone rings in the house, so we have a land line. And I kinda very highly doubt that we could our service boosted here, lol.

We have a cable phone, but during Sandy when we lost power, obviously that cut out as well as the cellphone networks, so we're looking into a proper landline phone for emergencies.

nope, just our cell phones. at our last place we had a phone that was part of our cable package so it was less expensive for us to have it than not, but i never used it.

Wow! I am shocked so many people don't have one. We have one. The main reason is because it is needed to hook up to our alarm/security system. I use it occasionally as my contact number if I don't want certain companies/people bother me on my cellphone because it is also my work phone.

I've never had a landline since I moved out on my own, around 2001.
Landline loss is over 10% a year; so they are very quickly going to be nearly completely a thing of the past!

We don't have a landline. We had one for about a month in 2010 and the got rid of it. We have unlimited minutes on our cell phones, so we might as well use them. My grandparents still have a landline but are about to have it shut off.

Don't have one. It's been about 10 years for me. I remember having TWO landlines though... One for phone, one for Internet! My parents still have their landline though, because that is the phone number everyone knows!

I do because all of my family is long distance, and the LD plan on my land line is 1000x better than any plan that our monopolized cell providers could offer. It's also hooked up to our home alarm.
Besides that I pay for it to be unlisted so I don't get telemarketers calling constantly.

Yep. SO wants to get rid of it, but I just can't. I want my cell phone for personal, not worry about "others" calling me.
Plus, I just feel better with one.

We have a land line because of our security system. Also, I like it as a back up. What if we lose our cell phones or something? I need to be able to communicate!
