I don't. I'm very jealous of those of you who do. I had to buy online and just hope I liked what I got without seeing, touching, feeling, etc. And when I need things like wet bags I have to buy online. I always prefer to go to stores

I have two! One about 5 minutes away and another about half an hour away.

I don't either In fact, I'm so in love with one that I found online that is in Ithaca, NY, that I want to open one here! Of course, I probably won't because that is a heck of a lot of money and I don't even know if there is a market here, but I thought really hard about it.

@HabesBabe: Oooh, lucky! There was one in Claremont but it closed!

There are a few local baby/kid stores that sell cloth diapers. I actually saw them at a big box store (Buy Buy Baby), too!

We have one that is just over an hour away, it is in a town we really like though so it will be an easily justifiable trip to do from time to time. I think there are some places that carry a few cloth diapers that are closer but usually just cutesy stuff not practical things you are likely to need more of.

I know of at least one! They offer free classes on diapering and breastfeeding. I can't wait to go, but I want to be pregnant first. Otherwise I'll feel weird.

I haven't had to buy CDs yet, but I did find out that one is really close by - 10 min away! They are really an online retailer that just happens to have a retail store in my city. They also have really great *FREE* classes and mommy & me group time. So excited to check it out when we are a little further along. Seems like a great resource for CDs and babywearing gear.

@MamaBehr: good idea! I keep telling dh that in my dream world I want to open a store that sells gender neutral clothes, and not just for newborns for older ages too. This store will also have cloth diapers
pomegranate / 3890 posts
nope, clothdiapering isnt popular where we live at all. i dont know anyone irl that does it :(. we drove to philly (2 hrs away) to check out a store.

I have one about an hour away that I am dying to go to although the last thing I need is more diapers. Actually, I guess that isn't true anymore since #2 is on the way!

Yes! And I work there, too! We are having our one year anniversary next weekend.
It actually started as a hobby of the owner. She cloth diapered all her kids and then started teaching about CDing at a community center. She started selling out of her house, then online, and eventually in the store! We have almost every brand I've ever heard of too. Actually, it's a little overwhelming when you first walk in.
I know what you mean about seeing them in person. A lot of customers say they've drove a far distance just so they can touch them. If you are ever in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area come on by

@glimmersnaps: which store, if you don't mind saying publicly? I'm in the Triangle too.
pomegranate / 3452 posts
@glimmersnaps: excellent! I haven't been there yet, but I will definitely check it out

We have a couple that are 40 minutes to an hour away. Honestly, I guess it's a benefit to be able to see stuff up close, but it's kind of a hassle to drive into Boston. It can be easier to order something online, especially Amazon since we have Prime.
honeydew / 7589 posts
No, we don't have anything I know of. BBB sells BG 4.0 diapers and BRU sells G-diapers, but that's about it.
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Nope, none here. I do know of a couple of places to buys some but they only carry local brands, so I also bought everything online.
coconut / 8305 posts
No. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I SO wish we did. I'm terrible about ordering things like liners, etc before I run out so it'd be REALLY nice to be able to just go pick some up.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@runsyellowlites: We have a system. I tell DH when we are on our last box of liners (we usually order about 4 boxes at a time so we get free shipping) and he orders them right then. That way we never run out.
coconut / 8305 posts
@artbee: That's a good system! I may have to adopt that, especially since we're fixing to start solids! Yay!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
I have heard that there are stores in the area (like within an hour drive) but ordered our stash online since the prices are so good!
honeydew / 7504 posts
Yes. About 20 minutes away, there is a store that not only sells cloth diapers, but also offers tutorials and it has a newborn rental program, so you can just rent a few newborn-size CDs rather than purchasing them. We took the tutorial and it was GREAT. We will still be ordering online, though, because the prices are better.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
We do have a few.
I know Target and BRU is starting to carry some brands online and then you could always return them to the store.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Yep! Well... At home yes. Cotton Babies is based out of St Louis.
pineapple / 12053 posts
i have a local one, but we've ordered everything through cotton babies. when LO arrives, we'll probably use the local store to pick up anything else we need.
pineapple / 12234 posts
I do, it was hard to find but I like being able to check them out in stores better!
bananas / 9628 posts
We did, but it closed recently now the closest one I know of (beside BRU or target or other places that just have one random cloth diaper) is 45 mins away.
pea / 7 posts
we do and it's a great place but I still buy most of my diapers online through Amazon
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
Yes but I bought all mine at BRU (also in person) before knowing that store existed. I did get my baby carrier there and some wetbags.
