I'd love that!!!

I have been meeting moms through facebook. We have baby play dates but I'm hoping after a while to develop friendships and do things sans baby!!

I have a mommy group, there are 6 of us, who meet weekly. I think you should suggest it to your friends! I've found that our weekly meetings are something I look forward to, and it's always fun/informative to share what has been going on with us and our LO's. I met some of my closest mom friends through this, and we were able to support each other through good times and bad.

@deerylou: I am a part of a MOMS club (national organization) that has monthly moms nights out, haven't been to one yet. I think it's a great idea though!

I have two, one of girls who I could actually have imagined being close with if we had met pre-baby and one that I connected with via meetup.com, where I like most of the women, but only could imagine being really friends with a couple of them (and haven't really reached that point with any yet)

I would personally love it. I live in my husbands hometown and while I have made one friends, it's difficult to make friends as an adult woman. I would love a way to connect with new people.

I have two. One was via the breastfeeding support group at my hospital and we all remained in touch and get together occasionally. Then I am part of another through meetup.com
I attend events as I am able but skip out if we don't feel up to it. But I really wanted to make mom friends and do stuff with LO and her other 'peer' babies so I make it a commitment.

I wish I was part of something like this! I think it is a great idea!

I've joined two Meetup groups and have a few friends that have kids and a mommy friend I randomly met. It's been really nice to have different mommy friends to hang out and bond with!

It's a great idea. I'm lucky to have a mommy group that has been together since we were a bump club, and it's so fantastic to have these moms/friends as a resource and sounding board. Some of the mamas you know might not really have this, and will probably be eternally grateful to you for stepping up and organizing. Those who aren't into it...well they don't have to come to the meet-ups. Don't worry about them!

I have a group of moms but we only get together with our kids. I WOH part time so we go to the park or each others homes whatever with the babies during the day. Hopefully we'll start getting together in the evenings though. I'd like that.

the only mommy group i belong to is an online one....but i love those women dearly! i have an outstanding invitation for my friends book club, but i don't read much, so i went once and that was it. and that's not really a mommy group, more just a group of friends getting together(some have kids, some dont, some are the moms of the girls in the group haha)

i want more mommy friends, and i've thought about starting a once a month thing, but honestly i don't know who i'd invite...it'd probably be the same group that goes to book club lol

Yes I have a similar group of friends as you described that I knew from my prenatal yoga class. We used to see each other much more often when our babies were newborns, but now they are more "grown up" (19 months now, all of them) we see each other much less. Most of them are so busy with weekend toddler classes, traveling and family life. I only see one of them more regularly now.

I enjoyed the get togethers, but at one point I felt a bit obligated because we always have to cook something or prepare something to someone's house. Haha yes I am very lazy. I wonder if that's what the others felt too and that's why we slowly faded out the group getogethers? Another thing is it was frustrating to get all of them together because everyone and their babies always have a different schedule. It got so frustrating at one point I personally stopped trying to organize these things.
