We just bought a new kitchen table and chairs, our first REAL furniture purchase ever, and now I am terrified we are going to ruin it. Previously we had a $20 thrift store set that we just let DD make a mess on.
What's on your table to protect it from your kids' messy eating? Pics appreciated!

We just switched from placemats to a cloth when I noticed some little dings in between the mats. Not that our table is particularly fancy but I'd like to protect it.
I let M help me pick out some tablecloths and now every time she sees it she says "TJ Maxx!". Yep

We switched from tablecloths to placemats a few months ago because LO kept grabbing the tablecloth and pulling on it. She's 13 months and we still have her eat in the highchair. Not sure when we will switch her to the table with a booster. Interested to read others responses to see what they do to protect their tables.

Placemats - we just shake them off into the trash, then throw in the washing machine!

Growing up we used a padded protector that fit the exact size of the table. That was used more so to protect the table from scratches than spills, which can be cleaned right away.

Placemats! I'd love to switch on and off to table cloths but lo would pull it and everything else off the table. She already pulls the placemats so they're all pushed to the middle while not in use.

Placemats, but they do not protect the table, sadly. I guess we'll get a new table some day when the kids are older! We bought this one used and I am glad we did!

Placemats, but my mom {owner of nice, antique tables} has always ordered custom fit glass covers for her tables. They are an exact fit, obviously clear so you can still see the pretty table underneath, and they protect the table.

We have vinyl placemats so they're easy to clean. I get tired of washing the fabric ones.
