We don't but our county is very strict about the trash we make. I think I have a 20 gallon trash can and if I wanted a larger trash can, I would have to pay more each month.
A family member came to visit and suggested we get a trash compactor so we can fit more in our trash bin. It's a good idea but I just don't know if I really want to buy one considering we are just renting our house right now.

We have one that's a built-in (came with the condo when we bought it) but it doesn't work and we don't use it at all.

We live in an apartment so it's just a trash chute! Thankfully it's pretty far from our apartment (or really anyone's)

There is one at the beach house my family goes to every spring for a weekend, but the owners of the house say we're the only ones to ever use it (that one might work maybe half the time)
My mom doesn't live in a planned community, so she is responsible for taking her own trash to a county dump site. She usually compacts it her self so she doesn't have to take as many trips. Anything that's not flat, she'll stomp on a few times before throwing it in the bin.

My parents have a built in one and love it. I definitely miss it and would buy one for our kitchen if we had the space. Another plus is that you don't have to take your trash out as often. My parents compost whatever they can for their garden, so not much smelly stuff goes in the compactor. But it also helps keep any smells contained.

We don't have one, actually never have. Maybe it's something cities should offer rebates for?
