We do not have a TV in our bedroom and my hope is that we never do! The bedroom to me is a place to sleep and get busy and a TV will just get in the way of that!

we have a tv in our room, , but we arent huge TV people so its not a problem for us. sometimes we go days without turning it on. Growing up my parents were always against having a tv in the bedroom and while I do understand why it can be bad thing, I got used to having one in my room when I went to college.
Somtimes its nice to curl up in bed and watch a movie.

I have one. I don't watch it much though. Sometimes it is nice for weekends when my husband is home and we will just lay in bed and watch tv in the morning until our daughter gets up.

We don't have one in our room and the kiddos don't/won't either. We very rarely even take our laptops in there.
We wanted our room to be a place of rest and relaxation so we nixed the technology from it. =)

Yes, we've got one in the bedroom. As much as some people hate it, I LOVE falling asleep to an old rerun of Friends And I like having the tv on in the morning as we get ready. Plus, that's where the husband watches his Sunday (11 hours of) football, while I get the main tv in the living room, haha)

I can't fall asleep unless the TV is on. DH and I rarely go to bed at the same time and the TV is comforting to me since I am alone in bed. So, yes, we have a TV in the bedroom.

We have a TV in our room and I hate it. DH swears he can't fall asleep if the TV isn't on.

We don't, and I want to keep it that way. We always did in our apartments, but once we bought our house, that was something I was firm about.
honeydew / 7917 posts
Like sweetchic, I enjoy watching Friends in bed right before I fall asleep. I have a difficult time falling asleep without having some background noise. Having a tv is a must for me.

We do and probably always will. It's the 2nd tv in our house so it's nice to be able to retreat and a watch a different show if we want. We also like to lay in bed and watch movies together. It actually gives us more time together because we're rarely ready to sleep at the same time so this way we can at least lay in bed together. We can always turn it off if we want a different kind of togetherness.
Not sure if this topic was also geared towards kids rooms or not but we will not be allowing televisions in our kids' rooms because we want to be able to monitor what they watch, when they watch it, and also encourage them to spend more time as a family versus all retreating to separate spaces.

I never had a tv in the bedroom. I felt like it would effect our sex life or make the bedroom a different place, less sanctuary like. However, last year DH asked for it back, and I must say I really enjoy having it now during pregnancy. There are so many times where I can't sleep at night and it's a nice distraction from the heartburn, or when I need a little time to myself it's nice to shut myself away.

Nope, no tv in the bedroom. It distracts me from sleeping though DH often falls asleep in the living room with the TV on.
apricot / 498 posts
Yup. I like laying in bed all cozy and watching it. We also listen to the news in the morning.

We do! We always throw a movie on before we pass out. We still find plenty of time to sleep and get busy!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
We do, unfortunately. I was always a "it must be silent" to fall asleep person until I met dh. He's a "must have noise" to fall asleep person. Struggle. We still struggle with this because I want it practically silent while he swears he has to hear what people are saying to fall asleep. I just don't get it.

We do and I especially like falling asleep with it on the nights that the hubs works.
pear / 1852 posts
We do, but no cable. We watch DVD's on it at night when we're just cuddling hours before bed.
honeydew / 7968 posts
we do, but mostly, my hubby watches it when he works out. we don't really watch it anymore. although the google tv is there. i didn't have one growing up so i don't think my kids need one either.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
We don't; DH is not a tv person at all and actually hates that I usually have the tv on in the family room. Our bedroom is strictly for winding down and bedroom activities - we don't even have a radio in there, which sort of kills me as I like to sleep with the radio on, but I can live without it easier than DH can live with it.
At my parents' house, there is a tv in "my" bedroom and I hardly ever turn it on when I'm staying there. I'm just not a watch-tv-in-bed kind of girl I guess.

Nope. We had our 2nd tv in our bedroom in our last apartment only because there was no where else to put it and we both disliked it a lot and rarely even turned it on. Now that we have 2 bedrooms we both prefer it in the guest room!

We do. DH likes to have something on while he falls asleep. While usually I can fall asleep with it, sometimes I can't. I usually just wait til he falls asleep, so I can turn it off. I do have pet peeve about him forgeting to put the sleep timer on. I hate it when he forgets and I have to wake up in the middle of the night because one the DVD he is watching keep replaying the menu screen or he was watching TV and it's replaying infomecials. Ugh, so annoying.

We only have one tv in the house. I will not allow a tv to be put in our room as it is for us to be together, not zone out and ignore each other - which I can see happening if we had one in there.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
Yes, we would probably have a TV in every room if we could!
clementine / 818 posts
Yes we do, we don't use it much. I like it because I normally fold and put away laundry in that room and I like to have the tv on, plus DH loves sports and sometimes I want to just get away and watch my own shows.
grapefruit / 4800 posts
no tv in the house but i do watch through the internet and just bring the computer into our room occasionally
pear / 1556 posts
We have one. I have a really hard time falling asleep without background noise, and DH can fall asleep no matter what, so I usually set the sleep timer when we go to bed.
apricot / 254 posts
We have one. I have always had one to fall asleep to...that being said I will probably not have one in DD room.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I used to have one, but then I found myself staying up late to watch Flavor of Love and I Love NY. I was exhausted come morning.
In our bedroom now, we don't have a TV. DH is against it, but he does like the idea of having a master suite with a living area where we can watch a program after the kids go to bed, kind of like in a hotel.
bananas / 9227 posts
I vetoed against it! I want our bedroom to be associated with just sleeping. Though on occasion, I bring my laptop in there (usually on DH's request). For some reason he finds it soothing when I'm "doing something nerdy" while he sleeps ;D
pear / 1554 posts
No, we don't have a tv in our bedroom. I can't sleep with the tv on and hubby just doesn't care to have a tv in the bedroom.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
We have one and always will. We spend a lot of our time in the bedroom and actually watch most movies in there. And I can't imagine being sick and not being able to lay in bed watching terrible TV all day.
grape / 99 posts
We have a TV in our room. We mostly just watch the news in the morning. Sometimes we watch movies at night. It was great when A was born because after all our company left, there was one weekend where we basically just stayed there watching TV and cuddling with our new baby and talking.
cherry / 166 posts
We do but we rarely watch it. It's usually only on if one of us can't sleep.
pear / 1664 posts
We don't have a TV in our bedroom, or even in our living room. Our TV is in our basement and it is only used for watching movies. Our take is that there are so many better/more important things to do with our time (in it or out) than to sit and watch TV....(we're just too busy). Later in life this will change--we don't have anything morally against tv--but we probably still won't have one in the bedroom.
apricot / 321 posts
We do. I enjoy being able to watch tv to help me fall asleep when I am not working nights.
cherry / 144 posts
we do but we never ever ever use it. not even sure why we have it in there!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
We do, but ironically hardly use it. I do enjoy on those rare Saturday mornings where we can both sleep in and have breakfast in bed while watching an old classic tv show or movie.
