Nope, that is one of our family rules- the tv is not invited into the bedroom. I used to think my parents were too strict about that when I was a teenager, but I agree with it now.

Yes. A huge one. But we won it at a party and had no place to put it. We literally never ever ever ever ever watch it.
I am embarrassed when I give new guests a tour of our house and they see our crazy tv in our room (what are we? Professional NBA players?).
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Nope. We've actually only got 1 TV. I also think we'd be up all night if we had one in there.

We have a small one. My husband needs it to fall asleep. He had ringing in his ears and trying to sleep without any background noise is impossible for him. He sets the sleep timer for 30 minutes and I go to sleep once it goes off because I can't sleep with the noise.

We do, which is funny 'cause we don't even watch regular tv! But it has a DVD player & sometimes we watch movies in there before bed. I don't think it should happen all the time & tried a few times to talk DH into gettin rid of it, but that's not gonna happen & it's not worth the fight for me.

Yes we have one. I resisted for years and finally caved. I now love curling up in bed and watching our favorite shows.
pomelo / 5321 posts
We do, but we rarely use it. It's only there because we bought a new tv for the living room and didn't have anywhere to put the "old" one. It's nice to have if DH has to work late and I can't sleep.
honeydew / 7488 posts
We do, it was used while I was nursing. My in laws came as soon as DS was born and they love to watch tv. I told DH if he was going to allow them to come right away and be in the living room all the time, then he had to buy me a tv so I could disappear and nurse while watching tv! Now it is no longer used and we plan to move it to the game room.

Yes, I think it's 47"? It looked HUGE to me when we got it, but now it looks normal.
It's a super-thin LED flat-screen that's mounted to the wall, so I think it looks okay. We rarely watch TV in there though. Mostly useful for sick days, weekend mornings, and when DH is dominating the main TV with sports.

We only have 1 tv and it's in the living room. We watch most of our tv online and even then the laptop has only made it into the bedroom when we're folding laundry and want some entertainment.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
Wow, I'm totally in the minority, but we have one & use it every night! It helps us wind down. We always watch food network before bed.
apricot / 458 posts
We did up until 4 years ago. But once we got our iPads, it never got used.

@shopaholic: yes to sick days! I always stay in bed and watch tv all day when I'm sick (I guess those days are gone now that little girl is here!).
We have one but never watch full shows in here. It just helps me fall asleep if I'm wound up. I'll put Letterman on with a twenty minute sleep timer and doze off.

We have one in our bedroom that doesn't work! We actually don't even have "TV" although we own a couple of them!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Yes a nice 55" flat screen mounted to the wall in lieu of a mirror above the dresser. We don't watch much TV in the room. Morning news for me, since I like the background noise after DH leaves for work. Sometimes we will opt to watch a movie in the bedroom because it's so much darker than the family room with the blackout drapes. TV is off when its bedtime.

Yep! We have an old tube tv in a small entertainment center. I usually watch something every night before bed.
cherry / 122 posts
Yes and watch it every night and during the day. I like hanging in our room. I could never live without one.
honeydew / 7235 posts
We used too - then got rid of it! It's better!
Sometimes we watch a show or movie together via Netflix app on our iPhones if we want to watch something in bed.
pear / 1698 posts
Yep, our house is a 2 level open concept, so if I ever want to watch something while DH is using one of the other TVsI have to go in the bedroom since only the bedrooms and bathrooms have doors. We like watching a short show before bed too.
honeydew / 7916 posts
Yes, a 46". We only use it when we want to go to bed in the middle of watching something - so we just go up and finish the show, then fall asleep. But it probably only gets used at most twice a month.
persimmon / 1361 posts
We do. We disagree on this one...I didn't have one in my room before moving in with DH. He did. He won this one and we have one. I think the bedroom should be TV free to promote good sleeping. He falls asleep with it on all the time, which really annoys me!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Yes! DH likes to fall asleep with it on. Plus we like to cuddle watching TV before going to sleep.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
Yes but we hardly ever use it. We hadn't had a TV in the bedroom in a long time but we had two and DH put it in there when LO was going through all her growth spurts so I could sit in the bed and nurse her comfortably but have something to watch.
nectarine / 2152 posts
Yup. I think watching tv in bed is one of life's greatest pleasures
So much better than the couch in our living room.
pomelo / 5820 posts
Yes we do, even though I protested! DH really wanted one, but now that it's in here, he rarely uses it! I turn it on when I'm getting ready or cleaning in our room. It's mounted to the wall so it doesn't take up any space. I guess I don't mind it so much now.
nectarine / 2063 posts
Yes. I protested it for the longest time but DH has a hard time falling asleep so we watch no more than two shows every night. I'm usually past out by the middle of the first & he crashes shortly after the second show starts. I used to hate the TV on & couldn't sleep with it but now I need it on to help me fall asleep.
nectarine / 2063 posts
@Smurfette: the cuddling is the best part. Probably why I adjusted so quickly to having it in the room.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Nope, we just have the one in the living room. I wish we did sometimes though!
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
Yep, we usually watch TV to wind down at the end of the night. We have an agreed upon shut off time though. It was a lifesaver when LO was a newborn and I needed to stay up in the middle of the night. Sooooo many 1990's sitcoms.

@photojane: we have one in our bedroom too and we watch it every night! So I'm in the minority with you!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@photojane: Same!
We are huge movie watchers, so to wind down at the end of the day, we'll pop in a movie and chat and fall asleep.
