LO was gifted a children's museum pass for Christmas and we love it! We were also thinking of getting a zoo pass eventually since it would pay for itself in two visits. Both memberships are around $70 for our family for a year, so very reasonable...and bonus that one was gifted! Do you have a membership to any museums or the zoo? Do you get a lot of use out of them?

@Bao: that's awesome! We were gifted a children's museum membership, as well. The best thing is, with our membership, we can get in free or at a discounted rate to tons of museums throughout the US!

We've had a zoo membership in the past, but it was too far away for us us to do anything more than break even on it.
Our museum pass just expired this weekend, we broke even on that after three visits, so well worth it for us. We plan to renew it.

We have one to a local ecotarium, we've visited 4 times since we bought it so I think we've made the membership cost worth it now and it's still good until July. It's a great space for our LO to run around and explore and it's been a nice change of scenery instead of going to the mall during the winter months!

We used to for the older boys, but we got them so rarely that they were wasted. The weather sucks here too, so when we did get them, the weather would be crappy or something would come up and we couldn't go anyway.
I would like to get one again when L is a bit older and hopefully we will get more use out of it.

My husband's job gives us free or extremely discounted passes to most of the major museums in NYC. unlimited amount of times per year. Sadly,we've only used the passes a couple of times when we have visitors in town.

Oh fun! I want to get the one to the Zoo but its a couple hours away, but close to all our family. It pays for itself very quickly though, and its open every day of the year but Christmas. There's a local museum we might get one to as well!

Yes. And we are contemplating adding another one-- we just checked out the butterfly house/marine cove and it was fabulous. They are going to have several touch pools, a lovely (small) aquarium with an excellent variety, and then the butterfly house is spectacular. We have a zoo membership, and children's museum membership. We get our money's worth out of them.

We have both this year. In previous years we've just have the zoo membership. I think next year we'll keep the zoo membership but not the children's museum membership due to preference. We go several times a year (probably 4-6 times) at least. It is usually where my friends and I do playdates so we can talk and our boys can run.

We have a museum membership that's good for a few places in our area. We love it. It's great for days off from school. It has paid for itself many times over.

The zoo is 10 mins from our house so we will get a membership this year when the weather gets a little better.

We got a 2-year membership to the Brooklyn Children's Museum at 50% off (~$75 per year) and we definitely maximize usage! We go about 1-2 times a month plus they have reciprocal membership to Liberty Science Center 4 times a year that we go for free (reg. tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for kids) as well as other local science/childrens museums. Once spring hits I want to get a zoo membership at Bronx Zoo which gets us free admission to 4 city zoos and the NY Aquarium!

we have a children's museum membership and just got one to the natural history museum. it's been so cold this winter we've been going to a museum every week!

Maybe when we have kids we'd do season passes to the zoo, The Science Centre or Canada's Wonderland, but for now going once a year is enough.

We have children's museum membership and it has totally paid off. We will likely renew in May. We love it and go at least once a month.
If the zoo wasn't so far away, we would consider a membership there as well. But it's nearly an hour and a half drive.

We have both! Even though she's only three months old, we've already gone enough to break even. One trip for three people is about the cost of a membership!
ETA Both are less than ten minutes from our house and it's almost always warm enough to go outside here, so those were also deciding factors.

We have a zoo membership. It's pricey here (~$250+parking) but worth it after three or four visits.

We have a zoo and three museum memberships. My DH is a sucker for buying memberships since they pay for themselves after a few visits. I don't agree about having so many, but he really wanted it. We get a lot of use out of it, and the grandparents are also on the memberships so everyone is able to take the kids.

We have an aquarium membership and it's fabulous, it was $100 but a Christmas gift from my dad and I've already been the three times to get the value. The babies love it, always pointing at the tanks and going "ahhhhh".

Our local childrens museum and zoo both kinda suck. We have a pretty decent aquarium in the next county over, but I don't know how often we'd go if we did get a pass.

We have a zoo membership and go pretty frequently. We also have a membership to the Museum of Natural Science, or the "Dino Museum" as my kids like to call it. We love going to both! (though my kids go through the Museum of Natural Science in an hour and a half hahaha)

My nannied LO has an Audubon Zoo membership and I love it. He lives walking distance to the zoo but we also get into the aquarium and insectarium. It keeps us busy!

I work for a park district that operates a zoo (and in the next two years the children's museum will be opening under the park district too) so I (and immediate family) get in for free. When I become a SAHM, though, I plan on getting a zoo membership so we can go a lot!

We have memberships to the zoo and the children's museum and we go all the time. The zoo a lot more in the spring/summer/fall and the children's museum year round. We go the children's museum during a groupon sale for half off and we love it and will renew again. Our museum is "pay what you can" so no admission charge but as a member you get free parking, free classes (cost $10 for non members), and there are member only times (an hour before and on Mondays)...it's definitely worth it for us
