It's always been my dream to have a huge, awesome couch. But Smokey the cat keeps peeing on our couches, and we have to throw them out. So we are currently couchless.
Do you have an awesome couch? What was the best couch you ever experienced?

Yes! Finally. We have a big huge sectional with an ottoman that fits perfect into the corner. I could sit on the couch all day long now. I can't wait until it's broken in, it's only a week or so old now

We have an awesome Natuzzi leather sectional that my parents gifted us. It's in our basement which we hardly use anymore since our LO was born. Boo. We are going to replace our living room couch but definitely don't want to shell out the money for another Natuzzi!

We don't but I will be watching this because we are in search of one so I would love to great where people bought there awesome couches! I can't figure out where to get one that is not dirt cheap or super high end...

No. We are still sporting DH's couches from his bachelor pad. They are gross and stained and misshapen and saggy and extremely challenging for me to get in and out of at 35 weeks pregnant.

No I want a wonderful one too!! Actually we're going to get a new couch with our tax refund next year- looking forward to it. Our couches give me severe back pain. It's not good. And they're ugly.
I'm leaning towards a Pottery Barn couch.
I sat in one last week and it was amazing. I want the sectional but it's more than we can afford, so we'll probably just go with the sofa.

We have a leather couch with automatic recliners on the ends. It is amaing to just push a button and recline. We love them!
pomegranate / 3452 posts
It's not the fanciest, but we have (and love) the Manstad from IKEA. It is a trundle, which turns it into a double bed with just a quick pull. We have it open at all times, so that we can all lounge. It's pretty durable and comfy - much better than other IKEA couches I have encountered.

no. ours are new and lazy boy (not the big recliner ones!) they are stylish, but not that comfy. i wish we had gotten bigger ones!

This isn't exactly what we have, but it's pretty close. Ours is in black and it's CRAZY comfortable. I'm always falling asleep on it. Plus it's totally modern and chic (in my opinion). We also have the matching love seat and chair.

We have a lovely & awesome big ivory leather sectional, but the dog has been using it as a launch pad and look out post, so it's slowly deteriorating in its style and quality in certain spots.

We are getting our new one delivered on Sat. Not our first choice in fabric but seeing we hope to be moving soon, we went with cheap but comfy. Our couch now is bad and we couldn't hold off buying a new one any longer. I just need to get some new pillow covers for it

@mrbee: you are couchless? What kind of furniture do you have in your family room?
I adore our couches. They're massive and probably ugly (but beige and microfiber!) but they are sooooo comfortable. I lived in my "chair" which is more like an ottoman when I was on maternity leave.

@mediagirl: A wooden bench. Mostly I sit or lay on the floor.

I bought my brown leather couches 6 years ago, and they are SO comfortable and have held up awesome to the dog and cat, and I have high hopes for how they will hold out with kids!

@Adira: Where is that one you posted a photo of from? Its exactly what Im looking for for my formal living room
@Coco Bee: LOVE PB couches. We are getting the Pearce for our living room I think

@mrbee: the BEST Ive ever sat on was called The Mammoth from Z Gallerie. Unfortunately they dont make it anymore, but it was a humungous overstuffed soft couch. Felt like you were sitting ona bed of feather pillows. And it was super deep, so 2 people could easily snuggle and sleep
eggplant / 11287 posts
UGH. NO. I hate my couches. They are too overstuffed, which makes them look too casual. I want something more structured which I think will add a sense of formality. I also want it in a wacky color. I want to redecorate my living room because I currently hate it (strongly dislike it) but I don't feel like I can do that til I get rid of the couches!
Here is a pic of my couches and then a pic of my dream couch (Silhouette by Crate and Barrel, in Mustard):

Hubby loved the couches his aunt had so we bought them from her when we moved into our house. I'm not in love with them, but for the price, we took them. They're poorly misshapen and saggy now, and the cushions constantly slides out when the hubby sits on them for some reason. They're comfy, but I wouldn't mind upgrading to nicer couches!

I love our sectional from Arhaus. I've always wanted a U-shaped one with a chaise and that's what we got. It's a micro-chenille material which means it looks like chenille but a microfiber material so it's super easy to clean. My husband hates it b/c he doesn't like how the feathers makes it sink it but it fluffs back out so I don't know what he's complaining about. It was our huge splurge for the house when we first bought it. Before then we had this really old black leather Ikea couch my husband bought before we met. That's currently in our bedroom now. I hate it but it served me well during my middle-of-the-night nursing sessions with both boys. Looking to replace that later on to something more comfortable and matches our bedroom set.

No! We bought a cheap couch. It's been terrible. I've been lusting over this one from Bassett for awhile now...but we won't buy it until we are in our next house (hopefully soon!)

No we bought a leather couch from Bobs and its ok but not great. its not as comfortable as I would like
pomegranate / 3053 posts
@mrbee: Have you thought of getting a couch that has slip covers and then cover each cushion with waterproof crib pads like this? That's what I did with all of our cushions when our dog started peeing randomly on our couch when I was pregnant with my first. She has since stopped peeing on our couch but it has saved me a few times when she did it. Plus, it's also good for accidental spills or when your friend's child accidentally pees on your couch while napping on it.

@erwoo: That's the plan! Man, furniture covered in plastic… We truly are turning into our parents!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: LOVE LOVE LOVE mustard. It's my favorite color. I need more of it.
Once we get a new couch, I want it to be grey and then make a bunch of mustard colored pillows.

@mrbee: Seriously! I remember my parents had this rosewood couch set with cushions that had plastic on it! Then they got rid of it and got ANOTHER set without the plastic when we got older. LOL! Now, they have more normal couches with removable covers similar to ours. Whew!

We have the Karlstad from IKEA in dark gray (same couch as John and Sherry from YHL!) Not the fanciest, but i really like them. I hate, hate, hate big, overstuffed couches. I love how ours has nice clean, modern lines.
coconut / 8299 posts
I love our couch! It's super cushiony and so soft. We bought it when our son was born because we figured the microfiber material would be great for dealing with spills. I like that the seat cushions are extra long and wide.
nectarine / 2690 posts
Eh, not so much. The cushions need restuffing or something. You sink in the middle of the couch when sitting or laying on it. The loveseat is in good condition though! But that's because we don't sit on it! LOL
I bought the couch/loveseat in '06, so I guess they've done ok.
I would love a nice sectional for our next couch!

We just got a comfy sectional from C&B for the basement (our play room). It is one of those let's just curl up on the couch and read/watch tv all weekend couches. I love it!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@zippylef: our living room has more streamlined furniture of the mid-century mod type, but we went for something big and comfy for the play room/basement. I love the lines of the karlstad!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
I do! I love it so much. It's almost like linen, but much more durable and stain resistant. It's insanely comfy, and I could lay there all day. We have the matching loveseat too. We had a hard time finding something not microfiber or leather, and I'm so glad we found these.
I took this with my phone when we first got the couch a couple months ago:

We've got the beige microfiber couches that seem to be very popular in magazines these days, purchased for pretty cheap from a regular furniture showroom on sale. I like them a LOT more since Pinterest taught me how to remove the stains from the dogs' drool off of the cushions.
honeydew / 7687 posts
Ours are ok - we bought them when we moved here from a big box store knowing they'd go into the basement when we moved into a house. I'm with @cocobee though.. Pottery Barn couches cannot be beat.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Cole: thanks! it's actually from a local furniture store (grand furniture). they were having a big sale.

We had an awesome couch that DH took into his mancave. It is now kind of a POS with food stains and beer stains and butt imprint. LOL. He loves it (and also recognizes it has become a POS).
We also have a leather awesome couch in our living room--we split it up (it's a two part couch), and put the ottoman on the side. It is comfy, great for company, looks good with the room, and is the perfect height for LO to lean against when he practices standing.

We have a super comfy sectional from Ashley. I love it because the covers come off and I can easily throw them in the wash.
