I usually just make a quick balsamic vinaigrette, but I want to try the mason jar salad mrs. deer posted about today and would love to make some new dressing as well.
Do you have any great recipes to share?

Mustard, lemon, garlic, honey, oil - shake, shake, shake! Yum!

Homemade ranch is one of my FAVORITES
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp chives and parsley
1/4 tsp dill, garlic powder and onion powder
sprinkle of salt and pepper
water to thin
It's a favorite in our household. My balsamic is really easy and nothing special....1:3 ratio of olive oil to aged balsamic, honey dijon mustard, garlic, salt and pepper, and shake like crazy. The fact that I use expensive, aged vinegar is what's important.
those salads look amazing. must make this weekend! I find salads for lunch are SO time consuming to prep

I'll have to go in my recipe box to get the exact ingredients and measurements, but I have a greek salad dressing recipe that is *to die for*.
I don't use anything else on my salads anymore!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Please post the Greek Salad one, that is my favorite.

@Mrs. Bee: I saw this awhile back and have been making the avocado dressing and the creamy balsamic - DELISH!
Plus making enough for the week would tie right in with the mason jar salads

I have a favorite quick caesar dressing that my DH and I love:
1/2 c mayo
1 clove garlic, minced (pressed is better)
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 c parmesan cheese (finely grated)
black pepper
salt
water to thin to your taste
We use it on salads, sandwiches and wraps a lot! You can also take out the worcestershire and add crumbled bleu cheese to get a great alternative to bottled.

@mrs jump rope, YES TO THE GREEK. I love greek salads
@smurfette, you won't be sorry! Sometimes i use fresh herbs if i have them in the garden. Then the dressing is a bright, fun green

@blackbird: Do you use full fat sour cream? We usually buy the low fat...

Favoriting! I have nothing to offer since I have never made my own. But we are obsessed with the Kewpie brand deep roasted sesame dressing and I wish I could recreate that!

I usually do just a balsamic as well so am loving all these suggestions.

mustard
olive oil
lemon juice
garlic (let the clove sit in the dressing, them remove it so you just get a little of the flavor)
anchovy paste
sea salt and pepper
faux-caesar dressing! (no raw egg)

I'm with @Rubies - that's my go to, too!
Sometimes when I get really lazy I just do lemon juice, oil, salt, pepper. Great with Arugula and Parmesan cheese.
If I have Asian salad mix (mizuna, etc) I'll do sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, salt and pepper.
If you're in the mood for a "creamy" dressing that's really low fat, I take a packet of Hidden Valley powder, add a heaping tablespoon of dry dill and shake it up with lowfat milk (add greek yogurt if you want it a little creamier, but I don't even mind it runny) - super low fat but satisfying like ranch/dill dressing. (I used to work at a sandwich/coffee chain in Sacramento and they mixed hidden valley powder with dill and WATER!!! And it was pretty delish, not gonna lie!)

These sound so yummy! I love making my own dressing- we never buy it! I'm boring, though. I usually just do red wine vinegar and olive oil. If I'm feeling fancy I'll whisk in spicy mustard, lemon or lime juice, and chopped garlic. Turmeric is also a good spice to add, depending on the type of salad.

Have you checked out Penzey's spices? They have tons of "spice blends" specifically for salad dressings. I'm a big fan of their Italian, which I just mix with balsamic and evoo. My parents love Greek Goddess. I've also made their buttermilk ranch... all of them are delicious! Here's a link to all of them:
