We have blinds in our current house and they were a PITA to pay for! Although, we have a lot of neighbors so it's necessary. Our new house will need window coverings but I think I want to go with curtains because the house has views that I don't want to be covered at all times.
How did you decide which to go with?

Blinds in all the rooms. Curtains in the baby room, family room and dining room. I need to get curtains for the guest room and our bedroom. Slowly but surely we'll get there.

Curtains in the bedrooms (although DH HATES curtains), blinds in the other areas.

Blinds + curtains in the bedroom and kitchen.
Just curtains in the livingroom.

@mediagirl: I think we'll just have to pay for small sections of the house at once. I remember when my parents bought their house, it took them 3 years to save for blinds! That will probably be us haha.
@JessiBee: My DH hates curtains too, he thinks they are outdated?! Whatever.

Both, I hate blinds, but they are necessary here in AZ in the summer. I cover them with curtains since I prefer that look.

Blinds and curtains. Our previous home's owner paid for expensive, nice, custom blinds and left them in (we got REALLY lucky) but they had outdated, ugly curtains. So we updated those. In the living room they help block the light when the sun is coming in and created a huge glare on the TV. The kitchen just has a valance. The bedrooms have darkening curtains.
I don't think both are usually necessary though. I'd only do curtains if I didn't have the custom blinds.

Blinds and curtains on every window except our bathroom (just blinds) and a small window over the kitchen sink (just curtains)

We have both. House came with nice wide white wooden blinds and ugly curtains, so I've upgraded the curtains. I would like to get those honeycomb shades that go up and down without cords though, someday. I hate the cords, and we've actually had one break because the blinds are so heavy.

Blinds are on all windows, except the 4 sets of french doors, which will have curtains. When we get around to picking colors.
We have blinds and curtains in the nursery and will in the guest room. Looks more finished to me.

Blinds on all windows. Curtains in nursery, LR and DR. We are still in the process of decorating though.

We have curtains on the large windows in the front of the house, blinds in the master bedroom/bath, and faux roman shades in both kitchen windows since the backyard is fairly private.

We have blind over all our windows, and there are curtains in the living and kitchen since those windows face the outside.

We have nice wooden blinds and curtains in every room. I definitely feel we need the blinds for the FL heat/sun!

We have the blinds that the previous owner left on some windows, but I bought curtains for the rest of the windows.

Both! Some of my neighbors just have curtains and you can totally see into their house when driving.
