We don't, which is how I grew up, 7-12 hours from grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. I like it, for the most part, because DH and I do our own thing. We have our disagreements, our ups and downs, our life, and there's no one around to judge us or butt in. And when we do go around family, we leave them with a "snapshot" of a super happy, loving married couple. I also Facebook the good stuff, like DH buying me flowers or whatever, so everyone thinks he's an amazing husband (because he absolutely is!!!)

(The snapshot concept was something my mom came up with when we were kids. She said that our extended family just got this snapshot--the 3-4 days we were around--of us each year and if we were well-behaved those 3-4 days, that's what they'd think we were like all the time.)

Do you have family around? Do you like it or wish you could change it?
