Both. We increased our life insurance (already had minimal coverage from work) when LO1 was born.

Yes, it was a big priority once LO was born. We too had small policies through work but we took out larger policies privately.

We took out larger policies through DH's work after LO was born. Especially with me being a SAHM, we made sure DH's is pretty big.

@Foodnerd81: same with us! I sahm and now we have two LOs so it was super important for us to get larger policies.

Both. We took out 2 policies on DH that are very high (one through work, one private), and one on me (SAHM) - we calculated price of daycare until school into my coverage.

We both have amounts through our employer paid by them and we also pay extra for more coverage. If we leave that employment, we can take it with us. We also have two small policies for the boys.

We took out policies when I got pregnant last time and kept it. We both have life insurance through our employers that pays 1X salary, but the policies we have on our own pay more. Between the two life policies and SS survivor benefits a death will not be a huge financial toll.

Yes, we both have life insurance and we have have a policy on LO.

Yep. We have the max policy through my husband's work on each of us. We should probably have more.

Yes. I have a term policy and something through work. We applied for DH but he has an asymptomatic heart murmur and that was enough to disqualify him for what we applied for and we haven't figured out what to try next. He's totally healthy and I'm a little annoyed that his murmur was even looked into as it is just an anatomic valve variant and doesn't impact his health. Whatever. He does have something tiny through his work I think but it's barely anything.

We got life insurance approximately a year before TTC. We wanted to lock in really good shape. I also have a supplemental $10,000 policy through work, at no cost to me. I think our policy is about 10 years worth of our income, with mine being a little bit more. I handle all of the budgeting, so DH would need some extra money as a cushion while figuring things out.

Yes. We each have one through work and one through a private insurance company. DH has a small policy on LO through work (basically enough to cover funeral expenses).

We both do through our work. If it wasn't included for free, we probably wouldn't. If we had a LO, we probably would have one for my DH only if it wasn't offered through work for free.

Neither of us do but I wish we had gotten it done when we got married. DH had a medical crisis a little less than two years ago that makes him ineligible for all life insurance until this November. Even then, it'll be insanely expensive. If we had gotten it done before he would have been able to get a lot of coverage and the price would have remained fixed to pre-incident price. So much regret in hindsight.

We both have policies through our work. My husbad's policy is much more significant than mine.

We have policies through DH's work and privately for both of us. We also have disability insurance, since that's a more likely issue for our age/demographic.

We both have policies that we pay for and ones work pays for. We also have a small one on LO.

we both have private policies. I also have an additional one through work. We got them when I was pregnant with #1

We both have life insurance through DH's work. We only have a small amount for me (really just to cover funeral expenses) but I stay at home.

We both have whole life and I have a second policy through work.

We both have life insurance - at least enough to pay off the house and other major expenses. I only got a 15 year term though because it was all I could afford, but by the time it expires, our house will be paid off and the kids won't be in any sort of daycare/before/after-care, so I feel comfortable with it.

We both do through my work, although I should really look into getting a personal one not associated with work.

@Foodnerd81: same. We both have private policies but DH's is much bigger since I am a SAHM. This was a huge priority for us when I got pregnant. Before that, we just had minimal policies through our jobs.
