Ikea. I love them. They were super cheap, they are a nice weight, and I like the way they look.

My SIL has had these for about 12 years. She has 7 kids and has only had to replace a few pieces. I like their heft...they're think, but not super heavy.

Yes. I refuse to have everyday dishes that aren't white. We got ours from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They're super heavy and cheap!

We have Pfaltzgraff Cappuccino. Not pure white, but an off white. I love them b/c they are pretty heavy duty and they sell replacement pieces in case you need them. In the 7 years we've been married, we have chipped one plate, and that's b/c my husband dropped it about 2 feet from the cabinet to the counter top.

EDIT: I just noticed that they retired them on 10/31/2013...so sad!

We have white dishes from Crate and Barrel in the Maison pattern. It was a compromise between the two of us. DH had the ugliest black dishes we used before we married. I wanted new ones and registered for the C&B Maison ones. He didn't want china, so if we every had a need, he would get them or encourage them to be bought. We've been married almost 5 years and use this dishes for entertaining and everyday.

@cascademom: Ditto on the crate and barrel. They have a great selection of everyday bone china.

We have these plates and bowls from Crate & Barrel - love them to pieces! Use them every day for almost 4 years so far - zero breaks or chips.

@MrsMcD: I love Crate and Barrel. We didn't do bone china, but love the everyday plates. I've dressed it up for afternoon tea which makes the white plates even more special.

Yes - BBB's Everyday White collection! They're kinda heavy so definitely not fragile!

Ours are Crate & Barrell Aspen (http://m.crateandbarrel.com/aspen-dinnerware/f1667). They're substantial and pretty inexpensive, and they've held up beautifully for several years. Two dinner plates broke when we moved and the mover dropped the box the dishes were in, but the rest of them were unscathed!

We have the Essential Set from C&B. Pretty cheap but I wouldn't get them again. Not even 4 years old and some are already chipped. One plate cracked down the middle that we had to throw it out. But both of those could be because DH loads the dishwasher too full.

We have simple white Gotham bone china dinnerware. http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/gorham-dinnerware-boulder-creek-40-piece-set?ID=451492&CategoryID=53630&LinkType=#fn=BRAND%3DGorham%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D9%26ruleId%3D31%26slotId%3D4
I paid about $120/$150, I think. It has held up extremely well.

we have a plain white square set from the JC Penney home line - they were pretty inexpensive, but I love them! We've been using them for every meal for 2.5 years and not a single piece is chipped, scratched, or broken.

Another vote for Crate and Barrel white dishes. I've got a few pieces from IKEA, which are ok quality for the price. You can also look at restaurant supply stores for heavy duty plates and dishes .

We got ours years ago when we got married, from Macy's. They are square, sturdy, and white. We also got a few blue and blue-on-white patterned, which we like to mix in for fun.

We registered for these for our wedding. I wanted something simple for every day, but fancy enough to use for an occasion. The subtle pattern makes them kind of unique and they've held up really well.

I LOVE my corelle set, they are thin, but definitely not fragile. I've knocked plates off the countertop at full speed wiping it down and not realizing there was a plate there only to have it smash on to the tile and not even so much as chip.

We have the same ones as @PurplePeony: and they've held up pretty well. A couple bowls have chips on the edges, but I think that's more from me not being careful when I put them away.

My aunt has corningware and swears by them. Her dishes have to be at least 30 years old.

@Mamaof2: I have the Marin line from Crate and Barrel. It's just different enough for me. They also sell it in other colors.

Ours are from Target. I got them at a wedding shower in 2009 & we have used them every day. They were pretty cheap & are still in great shape. And this klutz drops them all the time.
ETA: They don't sell the brand anymore, but I think it's equivalent to the current Threshold brand plates.

square- the Cellar from Macy's. We have had them for almost 5 years, they look great. One chipped bowl (totally my fault). Love them!

Roulette - another Crate and Barrel selection.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
I should mention, we have had it for 3.5 years now and it's still pearly white and in great shape. Doesn't chip easily. I think C&B is a great choice, no matter the style.

I also have the Roulette set from Crate and Barrel as our everyday dishes. Love them!
