I cannot believe they are so expensive!! I could get contacts and wear non-prescription Prada sunglasses for less than basic prescription sunglasses . My insurance won't cover them.
Do you have them? Were they expensive?

I don't have any but would like to have a pair! I was thinking of pricing a pair on Zenni Optical.

I do - I have a STRONG eye rx! So, I really need them, since I don't wear contacts often. My insurance covers 1 pair of glasses per year, makes no difference if its regular glasses or sunglasses. Some shops also offer discounts for multiple pairs ordered - for instance the shop I got my glasses at gave me 50% off the total cost of sunglasses when I purchased them at the same time as my new glasses.

DH made me get transitions lenses in my regular glasses so they double as my prescription sunglasses

yes, I have two pairs. I just lost my second pair somewhere in the house I hope. They were crazy expensive Marc Jacobs and less than two months old. Ugh! I'm so happy my old pair, Ralph Lauren tortoise shell are a) still stylish and b) the script is similar enough to work well.
ETA: similar to yoursilverlining the second pair, new shades, were 30% off.

I wanted them for years and finally splurged on some this year. I love them! It's made driving on sunny days so much better. I just have a lot of anxiety that I'll lose them because I definitely wouldn't be able to afford a new pair!

@Beth24: same! I'd have to wait a year so insurance could cover them (already bought a pair of glasses this years so sunglasses weren't covered)

I don't have any, but would like some. I'm with you though - expense! And DH's work cut our eye insurance last year so it's even more expensive now.

I have 1 pair and the prescription isn't quite right.... but I just lost them this week! I really want to find them to avoid getting another pair.

Yup. I get one pair of glasses per year so one year I used the money for sunglasses. Got some Tory Burch aviators that I love

In have a pair I bought when we put way too much money into our flex account a few years ago. I adore them. I don't have a strong prescription so I didn't like wearing contacts but frequently I wanted sunglasses while driving. I can't stress enough how much I love them, expensive as they were I would replace them again in a heart beat (which is saying something because I am frugal to a fault!)

Yup. We get $140 toward frames and plastic lens is fully covered. Adding polarization was $125 so the last 2 times I just got free after insurance sunglasses cause I was too cheap to pay anything. This year, I finally decided to put some money in a FSA and get a nice pair I actually liked. So I got the polarization and added a "flash" (light mirror) for another $125. Damn thing cost $325 total, but I justified it by saying it was pretax money so effectively $250. It $640 before the insurance discounts.

I had lasik but I still need a very light prescription for driving, so one year I ised my allowance for new regular glasses and the next I got RX sunglasses. Makes driving so much easier and the cost is the same as regular glasses.

I got some online at lookmatic! One of the best purchases I've made, super affordable and one of my longest lasting pairs!

I have some, we used HSA money to pay for them. I don't really like them. I find it is really annoying to take off one pair of glasses and put on another. Especially if I"m going in/out of stores. I mostly end up just not wearing sunglasses, which is annoying. Or if I"m going to be in/out a lot I'll wear contacts and regular sunglasses.

I do! They were pretty expensive, but I never wear contacts. My insurance covers one new pair if glasses per year up to a certain amount, so I had to pay the difference, but it was worth it. I love them.

yes, and it was so expensive. I got a two for one deal, so I thought I would get the prescription sunglasses along with my regular glasses. I ended up having to pay for the more expensive one, which was the sunglasses. I think it came to over $600. Luckily insurance paid for all but a $100 or so.

Yes I have Ray ban aviators. Can't get plastic Riks bc my rx is too strong and I have bifocals.

Yes I hate wearing contacts. Every so often I will substitute getting sunglasses instead of regular ones with my insurance benefits.

I had a pair made from some old frames at Costco. Cost me something like $60.
