I'm not going to lie, I do! If it looks really boring I'm not as likely to pick it up and read it. I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover though, I'm probably missing out on some really good reads!

I do too! But if it's interesting-ish, I'll read Amazon reviews and see what other people think.

Yes, absolutely. Its the only way I could get out of the library in under an hour.

Yes - I think it's a curse of working as a graphic designer. I can't help but judge bad design.
@banana: Aw, you changed your avatar! Cute!

Absolutely. I think the graphic designers and illustrators know who the target audience of the book is so if the cover is appealing to me, the book probably is too. Of course I read the blurb as well though and look at reviews if online.

Hey branding makes a big difference! Still, I try my best to judge books based on reviews, not covers, but I think we're all guilty of that!!

Yes, i tend to avoid ones that have "Oprah's Book Club" on the cover. I was growling when a few of my faves had their covers changed with her stamp. I don't know where this aversion comes from!!

I do! I think it's all part of marketing. When you're at the bookstore/library you're not going to pull every single book off the shelf to read the blurb. So a catchy cover draws you in.

Oh for sure, it has to stick out to me to pick it up and read the synopsis!
