Whenever I ask Charlie for a kiss, he kisses me on the lips. When I point to my cheek and ask him to kiss me there, he points to his cheek and offers to let me kiss it! I guess he doesn't get how to give cheek kisses yet...

I try not to because I worry that I might make her sick (she's only 12 weeks old), But, sometimes I can't help mysef because when I do, I think the sensation surpises her because she bursts out into a giant smile - it's so cute. I don't mind kissing her on her cheeks, though, they are chubby and pillowly anf squishy. :o)

Yes, now that she knows how to kiss me back, I am always asking for kisses. I love getting kisses!

No, we kiss his cheeks. I wouldn't mind so much for us if he did learn to kiss on the lips, I just don't want him doing that with everyone because of germs. So, hopefully he will just learn to kiss on the cheeks.

ya, he doesnt understand the cheek yet so mouth it is... but we don't really "touch" seeing he always opens his mouth. lol

No i dont kiss my son on the lips because he opens his mouth...yucky! I always kiss him on the cheek, forehead, hands and nose. Once he gets older and learns how to kiss right he can give mommy a kiss on the lips.

We're the same- I kiss her on the cheek or forehead, but she always kisses me on the lips. Must be some weird toddler thing!

I know I don't have children yet, but I honestly can't imagine kissing them on the lips. To me, lip kissing is a romantic gesture, so doing it with my children (or parents) would just be weird, haha! My hubs mom sometimes will give my hub a kiss on the lips still to this day (he's almost 30!) and that totally skeeves me out.
I'm curious, if you currently DO kiss your LO on the lips, do you plan to keep doing it as they get older (or when they are adults)? I guess for a lot of people, lip-kissing is very platonic, but for me, it's a very romantic intimate gesture, so I don't understand the parent/child lip-kissing.

I never thought I would kiss my kids on the lips cause we NEVER did this w my parents but after little m came, i couldnt resist!!! Never say never

@MrBee - haha, honestly, I don't know! I don't have kids, so I obviously can't say one way or the other what I'd do. I guess when he's going in for the kiss, I'd try to turn my cheek so he plants it there instead. I'm not sure I'd accept kisses on the lips from my kids, but I definitely understand that when they are young, they won't be able to understand the difference. Maybe I'll change my tune by the time I have them. Maybe lip-kissing is a phase that they'll grow out of?

I don't kiss her on the lips cause it's always open and full of drool, lol. I kiss her everywhere else and she gives us slobbery kisses on the cheek and nose.
Probably not going to encourage any lip kissing though 'cause I don't want her to kiss other folks on the lips, too germy.

RJ will only lean in for a "ppo-ppo" at bedtime when we're saying good night. Otherwise we try to sneak cheek kisses but he's so fast. But nightly we have kisses on the lips before bed. Sometimes he's sucking on his fingers already so I have to pull them out of his mouth to give a ppo-ppo... but he never seems to mind! Other than bedtime he will pretty much NEVER kiss or let you kiss him!

Before I had Eli, I never liked the idea of parents kissing their kids on the lips. Now that I have him, I totally understand why parents kiss their kids on the lips... I am not going to encourage that though... I still only kiss him on the cheeks...

I think there's definitely a distinction between platonic lip kissing and romantic lip kissing. I grew up being kissed on the lips by my parents and grandma, and I still often kiss my dad and grandma on the lips when we're saying goodbye.
I understand it may be strange if it's not what you're used, but I've never really given it a second thought. I'm sure I'll kiss my little ones on the lips... I'm not sure I'll be able to restrain myself! I'm sure I'll pass on slobbery open mouthed kisses, though.

@Mr. Bee: Haha! I say just keep offering your cheek and I'm sure he'll figure it out eventually. We went through the same thing with our nephew and he eventually figured it out.
