I have one in my life and I'm always trying to help her see the bright side of things. I realize that is probably annoying.
Do you know a lot of Debbie Downers?

I used to know one - she was my best friend. We aren't friends anymore, not because of that. I would sometimes get frustrated that could not see all the beautiful and wonderful parts of her life . . . it's hard to watch someone you really care about struggle to find happiness.

My next door neighbor is SUCH a Debby downer. It sort of ruined our friendship because she said some pretty blunt and scary things to me when I was having difficulties during my pregnancy and it was very upsetting to me.

My DH can be one a lot of the time. He can get pretty negative, which drives me nuts. But, it's not always...and I think he gets it from his mom, cause she tends to go to the worst side of things, also. It's just frustrating.

@MamaMoose: I felt the same way about my hair colorist! He has always been sort of a Negative Nancy, but after I found out I was having a girl, all he wanted to talk about was horrible things happening to little girls . . . like being kidnapped, shipped off to a foreign country, and being sold into prostitution! I have never gotten over that conversation, and have gradually switched to another colorist in the same salon.

I know one that I actually had a nightmare last night about..... he was trying to kill some of my family and friends that were at my house! We actually don't speak anymore because he's soooooo down about life that he's slowly (or not so slowly) killing himself. He always has excuses to why he shouldn't work, get healthy (he's obese and has many health issues because of it, but he swears his weight isn't the reason), go out, move out of his parent's house, etc. We have tried to help him many times but we just can't sit around and watch him die if he won't help himself. It's sad, DH and I have both been friends with him for a long time, I've pretty much known him my whole life.

@Dandelion: mine does, too. It makes me sad when he only sees the negative.
