A friend of mine's husband is, she makes decent money and he wouldn't have made much more than daycare costs to make it worthwhile.

One of my mom's friends' husband was, back when the kids were younger. I was skeptical because honestly he was a jerk (just a bully in general), but apparently it actually really mellowed him out and he's a great guy now.

I think my DH would make an amazing SAHD, but it will never, ever happen. He makes literally at LEAST 7 times as much as I ever have. Financially it just won't ever make sense. And I really want to be a SAHM, so there would be no reason to try. But he would be so good at it!

I never responded, but my husband was one for 2 years. He loved it but the house was awfully dirty!

DH worked with a few of them. Although technically, they were on paternal leave. Some took more than a year off!

My dad was one for a few years when I was young. Then he did seasonal work, so was often home with us for months at a time.

@Mrs. Jacks: I know - my house is also a mess! He is good about some things, but not good about picking things up and putting them where they belong so I feel like when I'm home I am constantly tidying up!

@shellio: I feel for you! I had no idea how much better that aspect of life was going to get when he went back to work!

My best friends brother is one. His wife is a high power lawyer so it made sense when they had kids for him to stay home instead of her. There is also one in DD's story time

I know a sorta stay-at-home grandpa. He recently retired and now provides at least part-time childcare during the day for his granddaughter.
