I'm 22 and my 24 year old friend is getting a divorce. There were things I noticed about her husband before they got married and I wondered why she would marry him despite those things. Turned out there were even more serious problems but she married him because it was "time" after being together five years. She says she didn't know about the other stuff but I think she did. Anyway, I don't think she put much thought into her marriage or her divorce. Other than that I know about 10 other early 20s (or younger) married couples that are not getting divorced. Statistically some will though!

Yes, and it's terrible. My former friend ("former" because she is at fault for this divorce, mean, awful, terrible, and I can't support her choices/decisions) had been married for 3 years before she left her husband.

None of my friends are divorced, but I see on Facebook a handful of my HS classmates are divorced and they're younger than me (I'm 26) AND have a kid in the mix! It's sad.

there is a girl I work with who is probably 23, 24 tops. she just got married last june and divorced about 2 months ago. it's not my business, but what really burned me up was that she had a divorce party to celebrate the divorce being final!! cheating wasn't involved nor abuse...and they never tried to work things out. just seemed like an easy way out of marriage to me.

We had 3 of our best closest couple-friends get divorced last year, 2 of the couples were in our wedding. It was so sad and a very hard on me. 2 of the girls cut off all communication with us and basically started a new life. In all 3 cases it was the wife that cheated on the husband. One of them started dating someone else and got pregnant while she was still under the same roof as the husband.
I will say that it made my husband and I's relationship stronger. It still makes me so very sad that their marriages ended and we lost some close friends out of the situation.

I only know one married couple my age who have gotten divorced. It was for good reasons though.

My husband has two friends who are in the process of getting divorced right now. One of them has no kids and the other has three kids (and one is under a year old!) Neither of them were for cheating (although one was likely because the guy WANTED to cheat. It's a whole drama now because he wants to bring his new girlfriend to another friend of our's wedding.)

My age, no. The vast majority of my friends aren't married and any marriages are still really young. My husband, however, was the first among his friends to get a divorce. His wife left him.

No. Most of my friends who are married only married within the last couple of years though. I will say hubs and I know a few couples our age that we wouldn't be surprised if they got divorced eventually...

Most of my close friends have "new" marriages - only married a year or two. There are a few high school friends that have divorced, two girls divorced really soon after their weddings.

My BIL got divorced, but I'm glad. His wife was emotionally and verbally abusive to him. Most of my friends aren't married yet. I do have a friend who has lots of friends going through divorce, but from what she says they also are doing the right thing for themselves.

Most of our friends are newly married (within the last year or two) but there are a couple of them who have been married for 4+ years and are still going strong! However, both my younger sister and my husband’s younger brother are recently divorced. She’s 21 and he’s 23. She was married to someone in the military and there was a lot of cheating involved. It was an ugly situation. My BIL’s situation was a grew up and grew apart circumstance. His ex felt like she hadn’t experienced enough because they got married RIGHT out of high school and ended up acting out.

I have one friend that got divorced at like 27 or 28. Luckily they never had kids. She is no remarried, super happy and has a 1 year old.

We know a few, I don't really believe divorce should be the first option unless there extenuating circumstances (spouse walks away/cheats or is in an abusive relationship). I know a few who divorced because they didn't get along anymore, I believe that's why counseling is available.

That being said I'm divorced and so is my husband. I was in a verbally and physically abusive marriage (married at 17, divorced at 23) and I could write a novel about that experience. My husbands wife had an affair and left him for the other guy.
