When I was a kid my parents' friends took me to try pho and I cried after tasting it! It might have been the lemongrass. Whatever it was, I don't think I've tried it again.

@regberadaisy - My absolute favourite place is Pho Hung on spadina in dowtown toronto. Ottawa's chinatown has some pretty awesome pho restaurants too, even better than Toronto IMO.
I've made crock pot pho on a regular basis now for LO bc she absolutely loves it too.
When we were dating, i told DH that there's no need to bring me to a fancy restaurant...a good bowl of pho is the way to my heart.

I love it but I've never found anywhere outside of Vietnam that makes it quite right. I would kill for some authentic pho right about now!
ETA: have just found somewhere in the city to try... http://www.thanhbinh.co.uk/index.html now to convince DH he'll find something on the menu he likes whilst I have pho!

Omg definitely one of my faves! When DH and I were poor college kids that was one of our regular dates. We even had pho for our rehearsal dinner!

Does anyone else ever make it just using boullion? I feel like a pho phoney now! Lol. I'm a vegetarian so we use the chay labeled ones.

Love it!! Especially in the colder months. We always go out for bubble tea afterwards to help wash down the oil/grease. =)
