I like the look, but that's about it. I feel like mine are always filthy and take forever to clean. Never again will I agree to buying them!
Do you like stainless?

I like most of them. I'm all for stainless counter appliances or measuring utensils, etc. I hate my stainless pots & pans though! The reasons you gave pretty much sums it up. I hate that everything sticks to them too. It makes me crazy!

We have all SS appliances and eh, I'm not crazy about them. I polish our fridge all the time and it looks dingy if I skip a week. I think I'd like all white appliances more.

I absolutely love our stainless appliances.
The only thing I don't like is the top of our stove is black, and I swear it shows every single crumb. I am constantly scrubbing it!

I love the look of ours, I think it is totally worth the extra cleaning!

I do. Ours stay pretty clean despite me not cleaning them very often!

@Boogs: i hate them too. They came with the house and were covered with impossible to remove fingerprints. BUT, I've discovered ZEP (from Home Depot) and it's miraculous. Takes no more time than cleaning a mirror.

I love them. Around here if a kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops it really increases the value of the home.

@MrsDareDevil: Ditto. What's even better is that 5 minutes after wiping down the stove top, a cat hair (or two) will invariably float up there and take residence. >.< But I don't have any complaints about our ss appliances - love em!

@Grace: I'm totally going to try ZEP! I've been trying to figure out how to clean our stainless steel appliances, thanks!
I also like the look of SS but the fingerprints drive me crazy!

I like the look, but hate the mess. My last job had one that looked like regular stainless, but you couldn't leave prints or anything. It was awesome!

We're currently looking at appliances to replace our ugly off-white 1990 appliances. I really think that I want to get SS but I'm afraid of all of the smudges. I'm going to have to look into that ZEP cleaner!

Pledge has a SS cleaner that works pretty well too.
I love the look, but feel like I am constantly cleaning it

I love the way they look but have heard complaints about the cleaning of them. We don't have them yet but I was planning on them in our next house.

I love ours, I think they look so good next to granite countertops, and I don’t think they are that much of a hassle to clean (I only clean them once a week or so). We use Method brand stainless steel cleaner to wipe them down with which seems to work pretty well (and smells better than the other SS cleaners I’ve tried). Of course – the cat always runs in and rubs against the bottom of the fridge and stove as soon as I’m done cleaning them…sigh….but a little cat hair never hurt anyone! ;-p

I love the way they look, but we haven't upgraded the appliances that came with our house (black). I'm kind of glad because my friends tell me that cleaning/maintenance of stainless steel is a pain without kids, let alone with!

@yoursilverlining: Yes! Why is it that stainless steel cleaners smell so awful? We have the Caldrea one that smells horrendous and doesn't even work!

I love the look of SS appliances! Cleaning is PIA though. @Grace: I'll have to look into Zep! Thanks!!

We bought SS that was less likely to show smudges - not sure what they did to them (brushed instead of shiny?) but I rarely had to clean fingerprints off them.
Our new house has black appliances - I think I'll miss my SS, but what's more important is that the new house appliances still have the same features as the old ones!

@Grace: Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely give that a try.
@artbee: I really hope white comes back in style.

I'm kind of meh about stainless steel. I think it's probably from watching too many annoying couples on "House Hunters" going on and on about how they MUST have stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. They have forever ruined both for me!

@betsyboop: I don't know, but they do! Yuck!! I tried a bunch and all smelled so bad, until the Method brand! I like all the Method products though, especially the granite cleaner, it makes the countertops so shiny!

@Grace: I have to second you with ZEP, it cuts through every nasty thing!!

They're probably my second favorite, behind white. I've always wanted a bright white kitchen after growing up in an old, dark, and brown farmhouse kitchen!
But, I don't mind the cleaning associated with SS. They're making better versions now anyway.

I like them. You can buy fingerprint/smudge free models now, too!
