MI is home. Even though the economy sucks and winters are horrendous, it's where we both grew up. We've been extremely lucky with our careers and life and wouldn't move unless it was a ridiculous crazy, worthwhile opportunity!

@highwire: Yeah buddy!
Austin is the most unique place I've ever lived, I think I'll be here for always

I love Utah! I hate snow but wouldn't ever leave here. DH wants to move to Minnesota so maybe if he is lucky we might move there for like a year and then rush back here. All my family is here and it would be too hard to leave.

yep, we love living close to the beach in our little bungalow!

I've grown to like Georgia!
Love where we currently live

I love Texas, but not the current city I am stuck in. I don't know if I'll ever be able to move back to Austin like I would like.

It's meh.
I live here because my family is here and when I tried to move away from them I was so homesick that I fell into depression and it affected my job so much that my boss confronted me about it.
I lived in NY for a year and had to move back.
I could do without our winters - January is in the negatives the entire month and the rest of the winter is still brutal. Summers are polar opposite and crazy hot. I would like somewhere that is milder as far as weather goes. We don't have any natural disasters though so that's a perk
If my family moved, I would too. They're the only ones keeping me here.

I like where I live (Vancouver, Canada) I just wish it wasn't so expensive... a starter home in our area starts at 750k. It's soo ridiculous! The winters are super rainy too, but I love the summers. My friends and family live here too so I don't think I could ever move permanently.

It's okay...I don't like my particular city right now. I think we would move if given the chance but we have to stay in western Washington for DH's job for a few more years.

Yep! I love Atlanta. I have lived in AL, FL, OH, and MN and it is my favorite by far!

I like it because it's where all our friends are, and our lives. Otherwise, it's not where I would choose to live permanently.

@Coco Bee: I gotta say your Minnesota state fair is amazing! DH would drop everything to move there for his Vikings.
pomegranate / 3983 posts
There are lots of things I like about it, but it's not home, so we'll be leaving within a couple of years.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
Yes to Chicago... except for during the winter... which is like 4 - 5 months out of the year!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@anonysquire: the state fair is pretty awesome for sure but I think the Vikings suck!!

@Coco Bee: I hate football, but I gotta be a good wife. My DH has been a fan since before he was born. We went to 2 games last year and that was 2 too many. Next year we will be there in August and then probably November. So if you are still living there I will drop a cat off on your doorstep and run!

Ontario Canada here.. and yep I like it! Small town away from family right now though which is hard, but we still see them a couple times a month! Winters are brutal here, (we live in the "snow belt") but we take advantage and do winter activities!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@anonysquire: ahahahha I totally laughed out loud again!! No totally we should meet up if you're here :):)
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@anonysquire: Agreed! Check back next summer - I'll be waiting Maybe we can hit the state fair together if you're here the end of August
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Coco Bee: Ya that is why we are going in August I loved it too much last year and didn't get to try enough fried stuff lol. DH had deep fried spam curds which looked disgusting. I want a deep fried Snickers!!!

I love Boston... I've only ever lived in one other place (New Jersey and worked in NYC) but I grew up in Boston and I love it, don't feel any reason to leave. The cost of living (especially childcare, eek!) is crazy high, but salaries are high to compensate. We always balk at the price of houses elsewhere, but have to remind ourselves that we'd be paid way, way, way less in a non-metropolitan area (especially since we both work in non-profit).
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@anonysquire: OMG the deep fried snickers are AMAZING. Not even joking. Lovely heavenly morsels of ooey gooey deliciousness sent from the gods pure fountain of mouthwatering bliss. It's like a party in your mouth. no joke.
I love the cheese curds too. OH and pronto pups - incredible. I love the pickles on a stick from the pronto pup stand. Oh, and did you try Martha's cookies?! SO GOOD.
I basically go just for the food everything else is filler stuff!!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Coco Bee: Ok now I am mad that I didn't try more stuff. Dangit! There was such a long line for the cookies that we skipped out on it. Basically we shopped a ton, got beef jerky, lemonades, went to the 4h tent, watched the dog shows and then left I think. I totally missed all the good food!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@anonysquire: haha there is always next year and I can show you all the good stuff
The lemonade is good! I get one of those huge plastic cups and get it refilled over and over.
I like the 4H tent and I usually stop by the Fine Arts building too.
Two years ago Carrie Underwood played the Grandstands and I was SO mad I didn't get tickets cause they sold out in a week and I love her. They usually have such great artists. DS will be 18 mos so I doubt we'll go to any concerts.

Our home is NYC and I LOVE it there and miss it every day. Now we live in Shanghai, I also love it here but I think my Chinese isn't good enough yet... But I mostly miss my friends at home, I miss delis, bagels and pizza.

love the dirty water - Boston is my home! Love living here, talking DS on our nightly walks through Harvard Square, going to Sox games after work, so much to see & do, I never want to leave
