I love NPR. My dad was a huge NPR listener while I was growing up, and I have fond memories of listening to Car Talk on the weekends. I was just listening to NPR this morning actually, and it mentioned a couple websites I want to check out. Love it!!

I love NPR! It's my primary source of news! I started listening in 2008 during the election because I was clueless about things going on in the world. And NPR makes the news so accessible and interesting!

@Bookworm: I love Car Talk! I don't even care that much about cars, but I love listening to those guys chat!

Yup, our kitchen radio is set to NPR. I listen in the morning while making breakfast and in the evening while feeding LO dinner. I also love their podcasts.

I love NPR! I listen to it during the day, while doing chores or playing with the kids.

My dad is general manager of the NPR station in my hometown, so I've always listened. I still do...and will sometimes stream my dad's station online rather than listen to my local one. And during pledge drive season, I always pledge my dad's station

Sometimes. Just depends on my mood. I always loved listening to Car Talk. Those guys cracked me up.

We are a total NPR family. Our dog is named Krulwich, after Robert Krulwich of Science Fridays and RadioLab.

@mediagirl: Love car talk!
We do, but mostly in the car.

haha yes every day! I've always said that Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is one of the best programs (radio or TV) on the air right now Also love This American Life.

Yes. I especially love the "credits" at the end of Car Talk, and Kai Ryssdal of Marketplace. He's got the best voice! I try to pay attention when he "does the numbers," but I almost always end up singing "We're in the money, we're in the money, we've got a lot of what it takes to get along!" instead.

We listen all the time and are going to see Sci Fri live in a couple of weeks!

@Mrs. Jacks: Oooh nice!!! I tried to get DH tickets to WW DTM for his birthday this year but they are CRAZY expensive!!! One of these days we'll make it happen
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@JoJoGirl: we did it during pledge drive and just considered it our pledge for the year it was my Christmas present to him, so I could justify the expense.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: I actually would've paid for the tickets happily, but it was also in another state on a Thursday or something random, so would've meant paying for a hotel and taking off work. I still considered it but ultimately we'd just wait for it to come to our city instead.

All the time! Although when I was teaching, I had this set to wake me up in the morning, and the news reporter would put me back to sleep. I stream their music station--All Songs 24/7 is a great mix.

I listen to some of the NPR podcasts and always try to tune in when I'm driving through the States.
I listen to Canadian public radio - CBC Radio One. Love it. Listening right now
@Lozza: My cat is named after the lead anchor on Canadian public television

@Lozza: ah I love it!
I'm a huge NPR fan. I listen to it a lot in the car, and I subscribe to a bunch of the podcasts (TAL, WWDTM, Radiolab, Story Corps)
I'm so bad at guessing what all the reporters look like though. I found this article a while back and it's hilarious! Esp Ira Glass, haha http://www.buzzfeed.com/jenerous/how-npr-reporters-actually-look-vs-how-you-think-7tuz

Yep, we're an NPR family. I have some very fond memories of driving through Upstate NY and Vermont on our honeymoon looking at the leaves changing colors and listening to This American Life.
My favorite shows are (in no particular order): This American Life, Snap Judgement, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Science Friday, Fresh Air, Car Talk and Radiolab.
@Shutterbug: Haha Ira Glass does look exactly how I imagine him!

@Shutterbug: I posted that on FB when it was going around!!! Hahahaha love that. I am always trying to imitate Ira Glass' voice.. it's so distinct.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@JoJoGirl: Did you hear the doppelgangers episode of This American Life where Fred Armisen was mimicing Ira Glass? They are voice twins.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Shutterbug: YES!!! I think that's why I started trying to imitate him too! Fred Armisen was SO GOOD! We looked up that SNL clip online after hearing the episode, it was hilarious.

All the time. Radio/streaming/podcasts. Well, all my free time anyway... my husband has been a "sustainer" for years. We have lots of jokes about that at our house.
