Do you live far away from your family?
I wonder if our online group is so friendly and tight knit in part because a lot of us have families that are quite far away.
Our immediate family (siblings/parents?ILs) live in
California, Ohio, New York, and Michigan with grandparents in Ontario, Florida and Ohio. More family in more states and some family abroad. We live in meet-up-for-the-day driving distance of one of my second cousins. We are fairly isolated even though we both have huge families.

My parents are 2 1/2 hours away so, they're an overnight trip. My inlaws are a flight away down to Florida. I'm sad none of them are closer. His actually moved further away from all of the kids as the kids started having grandkids. Weird. We moved to NC to be closer to my parents.

Both of our sets of parents are over an hour plane ride away. The closest family to us is my aunt and uncle, 2.5 hrs away by car, but mostly everyone else is a plane ride.

my ILs are on the other side of our duplex. too close for us. we're trying to look at houses next summer.
my parents live about 5 minutes away, driving distance. they never bother us though, haha!

Both our parents live in the same town, about 3 hours away from where we moved to for work after school was done. I wish we were closer.. we are constantly going back for weekends and it is such a pain!

I am in MA. Mom, step-dad, and youngest siblings are in NC. Dad is in LA, and my sisters are in CA. I hate that they are so far away. One of my sisters is coming for a week in October and I can't wait. We'll probably go to NC for Thanksgiving.

Dad is 3 hours by plane (Ontario, Canada)
Mom is 2 hours by plane (Baltimore, Maryland)
FIL is 6 hours by plane (Lima, Peru)
MIL is closer than I would like

I live on the East Coast, my family lives on the West Coast. ILs live about 45 minutes away but we only see them a few times a year!

Both sets of parents are a 20-25 minute drive. My siblings are a 30 minute drive, and DH's brother is a 45 minute drive. So we are lucky and get to see our immediate families a couple times a month!

Both of our parents are about 40 minutes away by subway (public transportation) or 25-30 minutes away by car. It's nice to have them close, but sometimes it's TOO close.

I live north of London. Our family, for the most part, lives in St. Louis, MO. It usually takes almost 24 hours to get home with travel time to and from the airport and layovers. Last time, I left my house here in the UK at 4:30am and got home at 10pm St. Louis time.... which is 4am London time.

We live in Northern VA, my parents live in Savannah, GA. DH mom lives in Atlanta, GA and his dad lives in Hawaii. My parents used to live in Northern VA but retired to Savannah about 5 years ago. My brother is in Houston.

My parents live 3.5 hours away and my in laws live 1.5 hours away.

My parents are about 5 hours' drive away; my in-laws are about 16 hours' drive away. We see my parents about once a month; we see my in-laws a couple times a year.
Hopefully we'll relocate soon so it's a little more even, though.

Most of the immediate family lives in the area. My parents/brother are 15-25 minutes away; my maternal grandmother is 5 minutes away; all 3 of my sisters are within an hour's drive. Much of DH's family lives 45 minutes away. I'm so glad we chose to buy a house that's centrally located, especially with baby on the way!

Both of out parents are an 8 hour car ride so we need at last a long weekend. The flight is only a little over an hour but both we and our parents live relatively far from the airport so in some cases out makes more sense just to drive.

My parents are close enough that we can go see them for lunch, dinner, or just the afternoon. My husband's parents are within that range too. I like it that way.

My side of the family, the closest is 6 hours - parents are 8, sister is.. gosh probably 15+, brother is 8.
Inlaws are all 7 (all live in the same area).
We've moved every year for my husband's work the past 3 - and all our college friends are spread across the Midwest as well! Anticipating our next move this winter - hoping we're a little closer to my parents.

Our families are both about a 5.5 hour drive from us. We love where we live, but we still go back to our home fairly often, and it's far enough that it makes for a pretty crazy weekend if we dont take any time off from work.

I'm lucky that my parents are about 30-45 minutes (depending on traffic) away from us so it's easy to head out to see them. DH's family is about a 2 1/2 hour drive so when we go there, we stay the night.

All my immediate family lives in the same city as me. My sister is a 5-10 minute drive, my parents about 15 minutes. My fiance's mom, 1 grandma, cousin, and other set of grandparents live about an hour to hour and a half drive away. His brother lives in a different state. And then all of our other extended family is kind of spread out across the US from West coast to the East coast.

We are a seven-hour drive away from my husband's parents, and a three-hour flight from my parents and the rest of our extended family. We're in Oregon, in-laws in Washington, rest of the fam in Arizona. I wish we were closer to my parents, but I love Oregon!

My parents live like 15 minutes away from me (drive), so I see them really often (like every other day or so). My in-laws live across the country though, so we only get to see them for holidays.

I answered the poll for my parents, who are about a 5 minute drive from us. Fiance's parents are 2 hours up north, which still isn't horrible!

My family lives a good 6/7 hour drive away so when we go it's usually a quick weekend trip. Currently the ILs are a good 20hr/2-4hr plane ride away. When we go visit them it's usually a week trip.
